Primary Configuration Took an idea that Phil was discussing for his own CN9-AL Centurion and did a little tweaking of my own. AMS = Check BAP = Check Full Armor = Almost Heat Manageable = Check Long Range = Check Medium Range = Check Short Range = Check Alternate Configuration A Essentially it is the same base loadout as above but this configuration doesn't have BAP or AMS it can sustain fire longer due to the increased heat dissipation of the mech. All it needs is ECM and a tux and I'd wear it to the the prom!
I really like the Primary Configuration. I used to run mine like Config. B but with an SRM 10, can't remeber where I got the tonnage from. The Centurion is my favorite Medium 'Mech, I have Mastered them all and Love them all equally; kind of like my kids...LOL Mythweaver. Another great example of what a 'Mech is supposed to do in combat. Thanks for the Video. I now run with your Primary Config. about half of the time...I really like it.
I'm hoping that in using a Standard 225 I won't hinder this build too much. Still moves at 80 kph w/ST, so, that's not too bad. And with a Standard over XL its durability/Longevity increases a little bit to help balance the speed difference. Also, note in your video that you are 1 ton short, looked like you could have added another ton of armor over your 'mech to match to build on the OP.
Nice catch! That is actually done on purpose. First, there are NO available slots on this mech to put any heat sinks or any other equipment. As for that extra ton; my buddy bet me a 5$ donation to MechSpecs that I couldn't shave a ton of armor off, give a good showing of the mech AND make it survive to the end. Well guess what? He lost. h34r:
Hail, The Primary Configuration is a fantastic build, if they ever get the Meta right this will be at the top of my list.
I switched to the Primary Configuration because of the number of LRMs in the game these days! I also like how this thing won't have any issues with heat nerf coming tomorrow! 5/5 for me! I love this thing!
Came to post this build as I was leveling through my AL, I see Grimm's already got it! After a few matches, I settled on the same as Config B. She is a brutal build. A little hot, but, the range you get out of 2xLL, then, the punch of your SRMs and Mediums, ON TOP of the great survivability of the CN-9 chassis... Just spectacular. I find that once the fight is brought up close, you WILL lose your arm, however, 2xSRM4 and 2xML are still deadly! I spotted this variant as a weak CN that I needed to XP cap... I was wrong. Just got dropped into a PUG with Gexstar... The only downfall I see in this mech is it's turn rate. Match came down to myself and two enemies, a Raven and a Victor, I believe. I dispatched the Victor easily. However, the Raven was just more agile and after about one minute of fighting, both his legs crit and his CT armor deep red, he was able to eek out my left shoulder and knock out my engine. Just a little more turn speed and I could have taken him down... Still, 2 kills, 4 assists and ~430 damage. Not a bad little medium. Chatt.
I haven't tried it yet, but it looks good on paper. I've been running a build very close to the "Alternate Configuration B", but I think this has a bit more bite. Shaved some armor off the legs and left arm to upgrade 1 SRM4 to an SRM6 and add another ton of ammo to compensate for the bigger volley.
