Since I wanted to flip my -A to a more classic zombie build, I decided to see what the -AL could do in artillery mode: It's actually been fairly decent so far. The addition of the TAG makes it a great 2nd line supporter, and the way I play I tend to stick close to my lines to prevent flankers from eating my lunch. My only gripe is that its slow as molasses, if I decide to keep it in this config once I have my 3rd Cent chassis I might plop in an XL to increase the speed and probably shoe in another ton of ammo.
This, and if the mech does get zombied I still have the two ML's whereas a TAG would be totally useless if the LT gets shot out.
Since you're artillery and keep at range you may as well run an XL for speed (to keep distance and reposition) and throw in a third medium laser. I run an XL on my Wang and it does just fine with the XL fighting a lot closer than your artillery piece here. I had something similar with a 98 kph max engine LRM20 4 ML Cent but can't bring myself to use LRMs right now.
Totally agree - as stated, once I've ground out the CBills for the 3rd chassis to be able to get the elites unlocked I'd seriously consider something like this as a possible keeper...
Don't run an XL245. By dropping a heat sink and half a ton from somewhere, you can have an XL255. It's one of those engines that is so close to a critical boundary that it's never worth it.
I just threw it together based off of Avocado's build. No number crunching or serious thought just seeing what XL could add.
The XL255 has 10 internal heatsinks - you don't need any externals if you go up an engine size, and an internal is more heat efficient than an external.
Great build! I like and it works very well with XL255! http://i60.tinypic.com/2141jyg.jpg[/img] http://i59.tinypic.com/qq62yf.jpg[/img]
