Basically because you can... I loved to run one of my Dragons like this before the ac2-nerf... may try it for fun during skilling.
#BringBackOurAC2s edit: that being said, I also though about this build, but there unfortunately no reason mounting it on a Centurion, for only 5 more tons the ShadowHawk is superior in every way: survivability, weapon position, etc (it's so easy to cut this arm off)
Because it can is not a reason. Even this here is better for Burstdamage: But like epikt said - once the Arm is off, you are a sitting duck.
Yes, the name "Build-and-hope-for-a-buff" is a hint that it's not the current meta-build... It has some reliable semi-burst-dps though, and range, but it needs some unnerfs to be viable again and even then it will never be the best build. Especially since you can't use the shield arm when you need constant facetime etc etc, yepp.
With the challenge this weekend was rolling my Cents and Hunchbacks. Had not played this mech much but while stock was rather effective wanted to try something different. Reconfigured my AH to basically this with 3 AC2's while it was very fun, but god it over heated FAST. BUT since dont have much in way of skills yet on mech expect this to improve improve but firing all 3 at once is quick way to very hot right now. For now Have 2 weapon groups 1 alpha 1 chainfire. Pretty much the smallest mech able to pull this off. And while more dangerous having all weaponry in arms over in torso like Shadow Hawk like the touch extra flexibility the arm gives. Its a gimick mech for sure but nice break from my usual Energy monsters. I stayed near the usual Big clanners so they were the attention not me and worked out okay so far but we shall see.
Havent played this mech in awhile but with ques last night low for mediums I gave it ago to work on skills. Keep falling back to basically this setup main difference is I upped to a 275XL engine for a bit more speed. Other one I try is AC20 and 2 SRM4 and SRM2 both have merits. The 3 AC2 all firing at once damage actually add's up fast and in current version of game heat seems to be alot more manageable they used to be. Used to over heat pretty quick but now seems I can just keep going didn't have to pop chain fire on at all last night. With quirks though hard not to use an AC20
