CN9-AL "Ultimate Utility" Ever have a mech that could do it all; support, kill, chase, capture, scout, snipe and hunt lights?Ever Want one? Then this is your mech. At first i was a bit skeptical about centurions and medium mechs in general. But after unlocking all the different perks for centurions and putting some decent hours into them, I can confidently say these guys can perform on all levels. albeit some better than others. Typically i ran SRM 6's instead of LRM's on my other Cents but the LRMs provide a more versatile attack capability. Being almost 100kmh (98) and a good scouting/hunter you can find yourself away from the main action pretty often. Because of this, you have at least some form of damage output as you are coming back into the fray after capping or doing whatever it was you were doing. Also, they are for survivability. Being a medium mech this guy doesnt have a whole lot of armor. With the LRM's you can get away and still pound on em with out ever presenting a target. Don't be fooled by the small amount of missiles being shot out, ive gotten several kills with them. Not to mention, every person you lay damage down on, you get exp and credits for helping with the kill. LRM's have a better chance of hitting more people than SRM's will. Most of the rest of this guy is pretty obvious. PPC's can get you major kills, and is your main source of damage. Lasors do what they do, save your ass once your arms get blown off. When playing this guy you have to think like a light mech: Speed is life. You are fast enough to out run most mechs and just fast enough to keep the chase on a light long enough to leg or get the final hit. Never stop moving if you can help it. You just get to use PPCs instead of the Mlasers most the light's use( except you have lasers to ). Really, this guy is capable of so much, and if a medium were to ever really make a mark in the competitive circle, I do believe this would be the one. Please let me know what you think.
If you're only running one ton of ammo, put it in the head. I might trade a DHS for an extra ton of ammo, but it's pretty clear that the LRMs are secondary to the 'mech's profile. As an aside, this loadout will fit into several Trebuchet variants.
Check on the Ammo location, thank you. And yes the LRM can seem kind of low from time to time but rarely do i ever actually go out. This guy is not an lrm boat. i've noticed the "incoming missile" scare is more important sometimes than the actual damage output. Main use of my LRM's is when im coming back into the main fight from capturing some point or another. Aside from that you need to be looking for PPC shots. This guy can't out snipe Jagers and Stalkers and you have to keep moving. SRM's can fit just fine and most people im sure would prefer them, but then he just feels like any other centurion when this guy is ,imo, the worst cent for brawling or SRM's. Think utility. SRM's aren't that. And yes the Treb's can get VERY close but fall short on a couple areas . Mostly Hardpoint location. The closest Treb in build design is the 3C. 4energy(2 in the right arm, 1 in the left arm and 1 in the chest) and 2 missile (1 torso and 1 left arm). he can pull off the 2 PPC's in the arm, the missile location is not important for this build but the last 2 energy locations are fine for damage output, but if his left arm is blown off, the centurion has the advantage of never losing both lasers until hes dead. If you value jumpjets, thats about all the Treb can do better than the cent. except the 3C cant use JJ. The cent also has the all important Shield arm. The issue with Medium mechs i believe is that they just don't really offer a big presence in the fight. With this guy you will. a double PPC blast to the face plus the "incoming missile" will keep most pilots from advancing and give your team the time it needs to get into location ( i'm thinking of you tourmaline ). The biggest plus to this guy is that he can perform on any level, against any mech, and against any type of weaponry. The pilot determines what this guy can/cannot do more than his loadout.
I'm going to try this one out. seems interesting after playing in the testing grounds. Those PPCs run hot, but you may be able to get away with a coolshot. I haven't unlocked speed tweak yet, but I'm hoping that once elited, the mech plays better. I could see a long range sniper with coolshot and zoom for modules
