Designed to sit on the outskirts of a brawl and just turn things in to a fine gooey paste. 3xSRM4 > 2xSRM6 =Same weight =Same ammo consumption -Slightly hotter +One less crit +Higher DPS (8.01 vs 7.5) +++++Tighter spread means you're doing FAR more effective damage at anything outside point blank. +++++ they also stay dangerous at max range. SRM4s are horribly underrated.
I tried my build with the UAC/5 and I found it jams too much. In fact I'm using it on a prototype Cataphract last night and I stopped dropping in it after two matches lol. Why not the AC/2 and then up your 4s to 6s like in the Grimm Variant?
I agree with Michael, UAC/5 jams far too often to be effective. On the other hand (since I hate the AC/2) I would recommend going to the AC/10. Myth.
I'm not a fan of AC2s on brawlers, simply because you need sustained fire to actually do anything (making effective damage soaking cut heavily into your damage). As for an AC10, you'd have to lower your missile loadout or engine to fit it. If you don't doubletap the UAC5 then it'll never jam, and still have much higher DPS than a plain AC5. Also, if you do jam, you can take that opportunity to twist/evade/etc while you wait for the unjam.
I too have had the UAC/5 fail first shot, but it's my favorite ballistic weapon. When it jams, that's your opportunity to hide, damage soak, or cooldown. While it's going, you unload a LOT of damage. I may have to give the AC/5 or AC/10 a bit more practice, though, for the reason below. I agree with Phinox, though. AC/2s are high DPS if you can stay on target, but they don't do much if you're taking careful shots or if you're doing a lot of maneuvering.
For science, just took my dual UAC DDC into testing. 125 rounds, 2 UACs group fired manually, 0 jams. I suspect those of you seeing "first shot" jams may be either holding the button too long, causing the second shot to fire automatically, or relying on the reticle weapon group indicator to re-fire, which actually goes ready half way through the recycle. Typed this, ran another test round, 125 shots, 0 jams. Either it's buggy in testing, or y'all got itchy trigger fingers.
It looks like I may need to load up on a UAC and practice a little. It might make the Jager more appealing to me, I have yet to find a build I am truelly happy with. Good rate of fire and excellent damage potential. Myth.
Hi there, 4 of 5 stars for this decent build. I tried this build, and it runs very well. The jams can be annoying, but is kept within reasonable limits. And if the Cannon jams, you still have 2 ML and 3 SRM4 to shoot at Mid-Close Range. If the Enemy is out of Range, ok, get in cover or reposition. With your build its even possible to go Zombie-Mode! I like it. Blagg p.s. I never underestimated SRM4, in fact they r better than SRM6 because of less spread and lower Heat
They seem to have fixed the "jamming on the first shot" issue. Now the gun jams right after the first shot.
Yepp, xperienced that in my latest games with UACs in my Jag. They shouldnt fix it like this, maybe after 3rd shot first. It really frustrates to have a Handicap at the Beginning of a Brawl. Blagg
You monster. Agreed though. I often run UAC5's on my Phract and if you tap the fire they dont jam. Nice build!
Just to keep this in a Standard version, This is how I currently run mine. Better Engine is Better. Oh, and Ammo placement isn't great, I would put it in the SRM Shoulder, but this works the majority of the time.
