I haven't remembered/played nearly as many games as you have, but I think I can make a list of games that I enjoyed much more than usual.

    In no particular order:

    - Mass Effect Trilogy
Finished it 6 times, each class once. I think that says enough. However I still want to elaborate that the ending explanation from the writers is terrible and you're much better off watching
the Indoctrination Theory on YT. Once I watched that and realized my choice was equal to that of an antagonist even though it's supposed to be the 'good choice', I was mindblown for at least 2 days.

    - Dragon Age: Origins
Same as Mass Effect, finished with all classes and almost every build type. I just didn't like DA2 at all so it's less mention-worthy?

    - MechWarrior 2 / MechWarrior 4: Vengeance
This is my childhood, picked 2 up when I was 7 and ever since been addicted to playing it (even though I didn't understand anything about the game because I couldn't read english). Was a bit too young for MW3 according to my parents but picked up MW4 later and have been addicted to that for at least 4 years (even though I never got multiplayer to work).

    - Diablo 2 / Torchlight 2
Got Diablo much later than it came out, but after playing Torchlight 1 had to get it, and enjoyed it. Followed it up with Torchlight 2 which was even more fun (though much easier as well).

    - Bioshock / Halo: Combat Evolved
Bioshock 1 was amazing, even though I'm usually not that much into linear shooters. Same goes for Halo, though I think that Bioshock was better due to the mindgames and aesthetics, and Halo mostly due to the nostalgia (I still remember getting the game and running into those two hunters in the 4th mission).

    - Bioshock: Infinite
Deserves special mention. the gameplay itself was not very enjoyable because of all the useless 'second versions' of weapons, but again, Bioshock got the aesthetics and the storyline pretty damn straight!

    - Portal / AntiChamber
Two very enjoyable puzzle games, in two very opposite ways. Portal has so much great dialogue, an extremely fun mechanic and challenging tricks. AntiChamber has that really odd feel to it with its minimalistic 'take a walk around and explore stuff', no talking, basic color schemes. Both two that I've spent a lot of time on even though I usually don't like puzzle games.

    - Star Wars Battlefront (2)
OH YES! Spent almost as much time installing mods/maps as playing the games, the second installment officially adding space battles and jedi/sith gameplay, the first with infantry/vehicle engagements and an active modding community. Countless hours wasted against my cousins/dad on LAN ;D

    - Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun / Red Alert 2 / Generals: Zero Hour
While I have played Red Alert 1 a fair bit as well, these installments will forever be amazing.
Tiberian Sun was my favourite with the futuristic Mammoth MKII and other GDI walkers (though NOD had lasers so it was much cooler).
Red Alert 2 is red alert 2. A bunch of very fun missions and endless games of skirmish 1v5 ing brutal AI :D
Generals Zero Hour is something I didn't like as much at first (as it was very different from the other command and conquer titles with the supply docks and such), but have grown to love, especially since the release of the Shockwave mod.
I also made several maps for Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 just out of fascination for the games. not all of them were very good, but I've been aching to pick up Red Alert 2 mapping again for a long time.

    - NFS Most Wanted, Underground, Underground 2
The best titles of this series. Especially most wanted but the others need mentioning. The only one I actually managed to stay interested in enough to finish. Tragic story: My game crashed trying to load the ending video, so I had to do the race and the entire 6 star cop race all over again. One of the saddest moments ever (it's pretty sad that that's one of the saddest moments I remember).

    - Half-Life 2
I shouldn't have to say anything. Iconic game, extremely fun, basically a linear shooter but has enough puzzles to keep you interested.

    - If the Last of Us was playable on PC, not just as a walkthrough on YT it would definitely be around here. I watched an entire silent lets play because of the story :D

    - Supreme Commander
Spiritual successor to Total Annihilation (which I haven't played sadly). The extreme scale difference between early and end game is staggering, the complete zoomout is extremely handy, and I spent at least 200 hours on this game.

    - Fallout 3
    ............................................
That's what I felt like whenever I started up this game. The best first experience from a game I've ever had, besides Mass Effect 1. Also at least 200 hours of gaming, countless mods installed later including some real survival stuff, weapon mods and building my own city. Sadly New Vegas or Skyrim neither got close to the immersion and feeling I got from this game.

    - Borderlands
The first borderlands was very captivating (until I had to start all over again to keep levelling, the same thing that annoys me in Diablo and such franchises), I really liked the art style and random gun generator. For a while (until it was patched) I had a lot of fun mixing and matching weapon parts from different types of weapons in a save-game editor, to create very crazy fully automatic explosive wave projectile shotguns, Loadout is the new game where I do this (and MWO of course has a lot of weapon customization as well)

    - MechCommander 2
Satisfied my Mech needs once MW4 had gotten a bit boring (until I found out about the MekPaks), It's like command and conquer with mechs and without base building (so completely unlike commander and conquer in every way)! As you might have guessed, I love customizing anything I can get my hands on and this was no different, going to extra efforts to capture some enemy mechs that were totally awesome (some really quick Liao 55 tonners of 75 tonners with jumpjets are what I loved if I remember correctly)

    - Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Didn't play the original Deus Ex until after this, but another really engaging game. I liked the environment, the 'semi-stealthy' gameplay, the augmentations. A bit disappointing that you were forced to fight bosses in a game very focused around stealth, but the bosses were fun so whatever :p

I think that's it from the top of my head.

I can't think of a single game in my top 20 that isn't already mentioned in the above posts.

Maybe Goldeneye on N64 since we played the fuck out of that in high school, but I wouldn't say it's a good 'game' - just good times playing it with friends.

Edit: And maybe Syndicate (1993) (the isometric 4 man squad, not the horrible fps from 2012).

Some nice games listed but adding a few (in no particular order)

    1. Star Control 2 - one of the single best games ever made.
    2. Homeworld - (Homeworld 2, not so much)
    3. Fallout 1 (but really the whole Fallout universe. and if you like that, you should check out wasteland)
    4. Duke Nukem 3D
    5. Unreal Tournament.
    6. Civ 2 (and the stacks of doom)
    7. Space quest 1, 4, 5, 6
    8. Freespace 2 (a game so good, that i'll mention again, this game was epic)
    9. Wing Commander series (and Privateer (and ok, Freelance))
    10. I was a bigger fan of Bulders Gate 1
    11. Neverwinter Nights (all of them, except for the new MMO)
    12. X3
    13. EVE (i don't play it, but that's because i know i would get sucked in. Probably one of the best games ever made)

and finally, no one mentioned Mechwarrior 1? Or Battletech?

Ever played Baldur's Gate 2 + Addon ? It`s ten times more epic&challenging than Dragon Age Origins, plus very very lovely neverforgettable Party-Members with so epic+long own Side Campaigns for each of them.. ow you have 6 Party Members instead of 4. That makes things much more interesting. ;)

and the Dungeon in the Addon - it's the fattest Dungeon i have ever played! With several extreme mighty Dragons inside! I played that game 5 times with different characters for the different personal campaigns and still only unlocked maybe 30% of the whole game. And sooo many hidden features like epic set items, which "ingredients" are spread all over the world map. Without game guide you maybe won`t find them ever. When i find time i will install the Enhanced Edition to play it again. ^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5qqfOXRRaA

Yeah, forgot that too! Played it soooo much with my school mates in the past. You can play the Liao there and nuke the whole world with a dozen of Atomic Bombs

One of the greatest games in the last 10 yrs. I love it. And Skyrim transferred the whole wonderful Engine to the World of TES. Great.

When Borderlands came out, among my friends i was one of the few ones, who actually played the game, while all others were just on COD & Co. It was everything i needed for a 3D-Diablo Game. The Sequel got even more my love, with all the Mechs inside. (Ok, the A.I. is f***ing dumb, but who cares, all i want is to grind XP & Bigger Gunz as fast as possible. :p)

Homeworld - one of the best Sci-Fi RTS Games ever.
The Duke was one of the most iconic 3D Action Heroes in the 90s, he was THE Man, which lacked in Doom.
UT - i played that more than CS. Rocket Arena... Two Worlds ... the Frag Gun .. ow man, my eyes go wet when i think bout the good old Momomomo Monsterkill moments.

I will also be updating this post with more titles if they come to me, but for starters I will just post PC titles or titles I prefer on the PC only (console games I'll post later)... Honorable mentions: Nox, Myst, Wasteland (DOS), Solitaire

    _______________________________________

[size=8pt]I've left MechWarrior Online off of the list, I figured including it would be tacky since we're here on mechspecs in the first place...

Shareware was the 5h!7 for a while there, and yes I played C7. Heretic came out about the time I built my first system, and along with doom was the subject of many LAN parties..... Used to do that at least once a year for a while. I think the last one I hosted we were doing UT 2004, BFME II & Q3 Arena.

As far as serious sam goes :D I liked it because it was stupid... and it rewarded fast paced gameplay. It was also a serious  leap in engine tech for it's time.

Baldur's Gate 1&2 were both excellent games, but I seriously could not get into the Icewind Dale games. Probably because you couldn't create your own main character and had to go with the default party.

That said, Planescape: Torment is widely considered the best of the Infinity Engine games, and for me it definitely has the most interesting story and conversation trees which actually affect the storyline.

This is tough. I'll probably throw some out now, and maybe add on later.

    1. Commander Keen 4 (first video game played)
    2. ABC's Wide World of Boxing (I think that's the name, it had a character builder/stats, kinda got me started info rpg stuff)
    3. Mechwarrior 4
    4. Freelancer
    5. Neverwintet Nights (I played a lot more Shadows and hordes than the base game)
    6. Oregon Trail 2 (I think the second one)
    7. SWAT 4 (Still play this and number 8 monthly with friends)
    8. Rainbow Six Athena Sword/whichever number that was
    9. Diablo 2
    10. F-16 MRF (got me into the sim scene)
    11. Carnivores (if you never played this game, PLAY IT. You get to hunt dinosaurs)
    12. Starcraft 2
    13. Artemis (space ship bridge simulator, check it out with buddies)
    14. Sim City 2000
    15. World in Conflict
    16. Crusader Kings 2
    17. Star Wars: Republic Commando
    18. Star Wars: Empire at War
    19. Star Wars: Droids (the one where you build droids and complete puzzles)
    20. Mechwarrior Online (keeps me busy nowadays)

Not really in any order. I'll probably post more thoughts when I get home.

Just downloading XCOM: Enemy Within from the PSN Store for 10 bucks only! The original 1994 Version was one of my favorites in my personal game history. Now waited so long for the promising Expansion Pack i give it a try finally and after watching some Youtube Videos i must say, that this is probably the best Remake ever for that awesome awesome game from the 90s. Plus you have "Mechs" finally in the Expansion with the great Pacific Rim "Elbow Rocket" Punch.

I think, this new Version has a great chance to get into my Top20. ^_^
