Okay, here's a build that was on my team last night: I guess he's going for a completely Zen play-style. He did at least try to cap, unlike the other spider on our team that did carry weapons, but instead hid the entire time.
Facd something like this, it is a rough guess. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=69&l=f38bee566097ae1ddc448484801b7205df7e3890 I am sure about the MG, the TAG(unless it is a SLas) and at least one LLas (maybe two I guess). I am guessing on the LRM size, and the SRM size. Not sure about engine size either although it is not too slow, there is JJ since he can jump, but not really good. A Highlander that cannot defend himself... granted I was using a Victor.
I was part of a lance on the Mechspecs NGNG channel, and our spider forgot to put his lasers in. We won that match largely because the enemy underestimated the threat he posed. No weapons =/= no problem.
NEW ONE and OOOOH BOY is it a humdinger.... http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=118&l=86704c769909d26b51fb377a129db925366fe569 Never watched him move so I have to assume he wasn't a complete muppet so I put endo-DHS and the best engine that would fit. I think I shall dub it the french tickler...always at the back of a fight and doesn't do much more than make the enemy giggle.
just ran into a boars head whose only weapons were 6ML. It's like a prize fighting jenner 60 years later in his golden years (fat, slow, still has 6ML...)
I finally encountered the legendary AC20 Raven. I'm not certain on his build, but this seems about right. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=35&l=41bb4b959faf20dddb8e301d284957f8d1574eff I think he just ran around capping in conquest, taking a few lethal pot shots as the opportunity arose. At the end of the match, he was the last guy, and I managed to snipe him with my AC2s before the enemy team won by capture points. I will give him credit, He managed to get 2 kills and a fair amount of damage before he finally went down.
Check out this Atlas!!! EPIC! My best guess: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=103&l=8a78c1052eccb372adf6cbbf98b5d4afd62df9b7
I encountered a Murder of AC20 Ravens during my first drop in the Shadowhawk.... Saw one come over a hill and hit me in the side torso then ran past me. I turned to line up a shot, then died as another 3 came over the hill and shot out my rear... Made me rage-quite for the night.
Okay new ones in general...I am getting sick to death of people putting absolute shite on a Battlemaster so they can try to turn it into a medium. Speed isn't EVERYTHING. It is important, yes but not SO important you take an assault mech, the mechs supposed to be at the front and in the fight and give it such a crappy loadout just so you can throw a big engine in it. Perfect example. Guy today with 2 AC2s and 4 Medium lasers. Don't get me wrong on a medium that's a good combo and maybe even on a heavy but never an assault that can carry 3x the amount of firepower. When you do that you essentially rob the team of an assault.
To be honest, the Battlemaster is my first Assault mech and my play-style favors speed over max firepower. That being said, I do understand your frustration. The problem is, large engines is one thing that makes the Battlemaster unique, so why NOT build around it? It might have the same firepower as a medium, but it has far more armor than a medium and will still be absorbing most of the damage in a well-played game. Damage absorption is an important role of assaults IMO. However, I did finally make a build around your frustration: http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=4378.0
Lower firepower is one thing but nearly non-existant firepower is another entirely. If 50% of your hardpoints go empty, you have a firepower of 20, no engine is going to make it an optimized mech. Its a balance of speed, firepower and armor that makes a mech. He sacrifices nearly all of his firepower to get a slightly faster mech that STILL is barely fast enough to keep up with other mechs with far more firepower (viktor for example)so that leaves him armor and the BM armor is paper thin. So in other words if you can't tank it or run from it you better damn well be able to kill it.
I actually saw a Boar's Head running 6xLL, never actually saw him fight because he mostly overheated because there were lights on him instantly.
First, I'm new to MWO. I'm still unlocking lots of standard efficiencies. So I like the Jenner F. And the D is reasonably fun. But the K is... not really worth it. Trading a missile hardpoint for an extra module hardpoint is not a good deal. So I'm probably going to sell the rustbucket once I'm done getting its standard efficiencies unlocked. Now, what gives XP? Damage doesn't. But kill assists do. So to get the most xp, I want to do at least 1 damage to every one of the 12 enemies in the game. Long range weapons help there. Of course, if I'm going to sell the mech after I unlock the efficiencies I don't want to spend tons of cbills to get expensive upgrades like double heat sinks. Therefore, I have made this monstrosity: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=20&l=5909245c01cdbfd7ca86bf1f98a8f8d39df88bc9 As long as I hit each enemy once before I die, I'm happy. It's also OK at running past people and capping points, since winning does give 200 extra XP.
It is ok, this is a piece of redundant crap. This is no point in this mech even existing. For many other mechs you can at least argue that it allows for a different build, this one is just... gimped. If they would allow ECM on this, or other toys, maybe TSM?
