Hey look what someone proudly boasted of having on our team earlier.... It almost fits the quirks... CDA-X5 Additional Armor L/R Arm 12 Medium Laser Heat Generation -20% Energy Weapon Heat Generation -10% Medium Laser Range 20% Energy Weapon Range 10% Medium Laser Duration -20% Laser Duration -10% Missile Weapon Cooldown 12.5% Torso Yaw Speed 10% Turn Rate 10% Edit ammo/armour is a guess but engine and armament is right.
Wow, I've run LRMs on an X5 before, but only for shits and giggles since they come pissing out 2 at a time and wind up not doing much of anything.
In fairness when Huginn's were introduced you saw that build a lot as people thought it was so useless a mech (being odd I used SRM's/MG's at the time). They're probably a returning player?
I did not know that . . . I never looked at the Huginn really until quirks . . . Even so, LRM lights have always been a pitiful sight.
I honestly wonder if that Huginn was an unchanged mech from the contest weekend. I saw an alarming number of LRM lights near the end of it.
"Wow, haven't seen one of those in a long time . . . wait, what's the SLaser for?" "Um, 5 ERLLs is already heavy AND hot . . . but you just had to bring 2 SRM6s along for the ride too?" "So . . . you like high-alpha builds eh? Not speed, or armor, or heat efficiency, or anything else important like that?"
I've seen that 5M Stalker round a few times...it pisses me off every time. But not as bad as the 4N version I keep running into, which has the 6LLas build with 2 SRM6's included. Best guess: Every time I see him, he's steaming from heat or shut down. He mentioned he has artemis for sure...but absolutely WILL NOT listen about removing the SRMs, even when I met him in my own 6LLas 4N and utterly tore him apart with better heat efficiency...
In fairness go look at the builds on this forum as several have 1 energy based weapon like a SL and boat LRM's.... Hint to the designers a Tag would work and a single SL or ML in a slow moving LRM boat really won't save you in 99.9% of cases against a light. Using every hard point is also not a good thing in most builds.
Depends on mech chassis, some chassis have a low hardpoint count so using everything you have is needed. For the huggies... Thas used to be an acceptable build before quirks. Probably one of the few chassis in the lights to run an lrm. But with the quirk upgrades... Well if you want to killsteal it is still viable, due to points for the weekend.
Its very rarely a good thing - most times people do it is literally just to say its being "efficient". They ignore the "effective" part of the equation. Hence all the mechs with 4 weapon systems and that pretend limited quantity modules aren't relevant to the build. There's a reason people boat quirked mechs using the better hardpoints... Edit: Its less relevant with lights I know but check out a lot of the medium, heavy and assault builds.
Was about to say that most light builds does require all those hardpoints. II have to say the problem is much bigger on heavy and assault chassis with lots of hardpoints. Especially true when one si trying to use up a mix-match of energy/ballistic/missile. That, or people trying to have 5 different energy weapon types on the same build. If your chassis have a grand total of five flipping hardpoints on your heavy and assault, chances are you might want to use them all.
