I ran into this one earlier...I'm guessing at most of the build, but the engine I'm sure of, he moved at a cool 66KPH: He spent the entire match just trying to get to the fight...by the time it found him, we were already dead. Just too much ammo, traded all his speed away for it.
Ok people may not agree but this includes the attitude of the pilot... My comments on screen were when he was still full armament and he's just been LRMing for the match. Every time I pushed he stayed behind and hid. The last fight "we" pushed against 2 direwolves...... wait no I did it turned out as he literally stayed and just lrmed from cover... as I killed one and almost the other. He was UAC 10 x 2, 6 ERML and 2 LRM 10's a combination I just can't understand if your game plan is to hide and LRM. Wow then we had an awesome I can only guess at in the next match as I didn't see the ammo amount... I mean... why?
This is so brilliant it goes way past mind-blowing and barrels head long straight into mind-blasting.
Eh, I used to play Descent 1. Since I didn't own a mouse or a joystick, I played a 6-DOF game keyboard only. Having the extra keys is necessary. (Right hand was on the numpad.)
Oh my God, Descent, that game was awesome! I don't know how the mech you saw was built, but it actually is pretty good (I mean, trading 2 SRM6s for 3 SRM4s). You can't launch your mech since it doesn't have 10 heat sinks, but here's mine, which ihmo doesn't deserve it's place on this thread. I think I met him too. Same behavior, lurming form cover with AC/10s + MLas unused. Though in my memory the mech only had ONE LRM10
Wait, that sounds like a Krab that Don Zappo and I bumped into once. He had paired Gauss, an LPL, and an Lurm-15... And until the closing moments of the match, the entire time both of us were observing him, he only used the Lurm-15. I don't think he even *touched* the LPLs... I think he may have fired the gauss once or twice.
Just . . . why? Why not take more fire-power along with the NARC, so you can actually do some damage?! (notice the 0 armor in the Right Arm) My attempt to reverse engineer it:
Got two in the same match! Not only was this first one badly outfitted, but he was SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. I killed him by getting up in his face with my GAR, but he couldn't move faster than the Dire Wolf who was with me. Then this one...underpowered Firestarter H, bringing fewer weapons to the party than you need in that mech.
Was watching a stream when I saw this, and had to grab a screen... I actually don't see many LRM Atlai...I was disappointed to see this one third party.
I somehow hope that those LBX10 have 7 shots left cause he has already blasted a few mechs off to thhe the good old sibko bucket... My guess is this build, but he forgot about adding another ERPPC... still not a good build even with that. However, if you switch the ERPPC with LPL, this thing can be deadly.
Its strange how sub standard Atlas builds look nowadays and I barely see them anymore. I could live with 2 LPL 2 LB10X and do well but my KCB's run things like dual AC20 or Gauss and dual LPL and would rip them to shreds.
Atlai have become obsolete (with the notable exception of the ECM on the D-DC,... and even then). Plain and simple. Honestly does anyone still fear running into one?
Bad choice of words. I never had the same reaction running into an Atlas than I have now running into a ballistic DWF. Yet I didn't like a fresh one popping up. I think you can relate to that. Now, on the other hand, when I see an Atlas, I think: "Yummie! C-Bills!"
Weather an Atlas is effective or not depends a lot on how the pilot runs the thing. It is not a Direwhale so if you run it like one you die. On the other hand if you team up with a couple of mediums or heavies and play walking wall it is amazing how fast a light lance with an Atlas as anchor slash bullet magnet can rip appart clan mechs.
It's not really the Atlas this time (though it wasn't all that great a build either, but nuance). No, this time I'm looking at the Dire . . . the one I'm spectating on our team . . . the one with just 8 MPLasers.
