My ammo is in the head and the legs. So i can't imagine it is because of an ammo explosion with none of them open.
What was the orientation of your legs? If your legs were twisted you might have been shot in the ass, even though your back was facing the wall.
Hmm to you questions the legs where in the position you see them in the screenshot and the one that killed me was someone who shot me from the platform above. I know the direction because i was looking up to him and shooting back (even with my torso mounted lasers), so my mech was looking a bit up when i died. Well a ammo explosion in my head could have destroyes my ct, but my head had still armor and crits should only happen when the area has no armor left (atleast to my information maybe i'm wrong here?) and has no internal damage. Still maybe a possible death reason, but buggy non the less i think.
Wasn't a death...but it might as well have been. Was on Caustic Valley when I saw some angry chatter...and as I read it, it happened: a teammate was stripping components and coring all of us. He cored my Ember's LT and stripped its right arm before I could react, and went to TK him (first time ever doing it on purpose...but he earned it). By the time I did that, it was too late...9 members of our team had cored torsos, and the enemy team was downing people in 1 shot. Match ended, and no one on the other team even had 200 damage since we died so fast. Incidentally, if you ever see SethBenoit, expect more of the same.
Funny death tonight. I was in spider, I'd just gloriously stole a kill on a Banchee that I'm legged by some sniper. A legged spider usually don't live long, but I was close enough to the pack to retreat and hopefully work as an ECM umbrella for the rest of the game. I took few shot in the way but finally got in a safe place. Safe? Really? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMp2BY2KKwM
switched to a 3x SRM4+ECM commando build given the supposed SRM fix(it appears to have worked). ran out of ammo halfway through the match, went on to provide ECM coverage and a distracting target. then the match gets to the end, spider-5D tries to hide himself and i managed to spot him. eventually 2 or 3 clan mechs on the same lance alpha into him and manage to destroy one of his legs and crit the other. the spider tries to jump away, and i ram into him and get a kill without any functioning weapons by ramming the damn guy.
My most embarrassing death ever... My ammo blew up. First time ever that happened. I'm writing about this: "lone Kit Fox on G7 [Alpine Peaks]" then "Easy prey [I never finished the sentence]", at that point a PPC blast hits me and kills me instantly. My enemy, my killer, the Kit Fox, asks "How did you die"? I ran with this: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=114&l=14f73f2b7db595c6b25a9d7cb4d9a18fe237c845 As you can see, it has a ton of LRM ammo on the right torso. The Kit Fox pilot got incredibly lucky and critted on the ammo, which blew up my XL engine. Gotta modify my build a bit. I haven't put all of my ammo to legs as i'm afraid i lose too much of it at once... but perhaps it is better to lose my ammo than to blow up.
Worst death: canyon network. Dropped down from the top in my ember to avoid fire and got hung up on the shoulders of an Atlas (poetic, I know) and was cored immediately since I was fully exposed. It was at the first fight of the match, too, and I ended up doing something like 17 damage. I didn't play for a week after that. Most embarassing death: alt tabbed to change my audio, back to a death screen with my cockpit destroyed. Forgot that I put airstrikes on the Alt key.
Had a classic yesterday. Battle is on Crimson Strait and I'm playing with a lance I know well. We're fighting at the usual start point aka the bottom of the ramp. Someone types that they've all wheeled around and gone over Saddle towards our base.... Then a voice on TS calls a solo Warhawk retreating behind them. I can see it at the top of the ramp and we've had him pinned down so I throw myself forward at full speed and hammer up to him..... easy kill incoming as I close in fast.... Wait what are theses figures to my left??? Have time to register 2 dire wolves, 1 timber wolf and something small before my mech literally shreds. I've instinctively twisted and jumped off the side even as I take in whats happening. Miraculously all areas are still there but my armour is non existent and there's a stream of heat sink etc warnings coming in. I run straight under the ramp towards the tunnel. As the clan light drops behind me and one shot finishes me off... The embarrassing kicker is that my scout was fighting a different solo warhawk underneath.... ooops. These test tubies all look alike.
I had a similar one on my laptop, I play at home with a gamer mouse (tons of buttons on it) that I use to hit arties/strikes, but I had to rebind them to keys on my laptop for when I don't have that mouse. Without thinking about it, I rebound airstrike to Q, which I usually keep as my overlay display for people's names. Hit it, heard Airstrike Launched...and then my screen froze up for a second from a popup window. With auto-run on. Running me straight at my target. Wore his armor down, suicided in my own airstrike, and he was just baffled in chat...
This one isn't one of my deaths, but one of an opponent. We're playing a Skirmish on Forest Colony, and our team gets split...around the corner comes an Atlas DDC, a Spider D, a Thunderbolt, and a Timberwolf...versus my Kit Fox, a Dire Wolf, and one of our Timberwolves. They should have us dead to rights, but the Spider bugs out when I get a lucky headshot and nearly kill him...I'm unloading, preparing to die, and accidentally overheat...when suddenly the enemy Timberwolf dies, and I watch the Atlas bear down on the Dire Wolf. Then the silly ass alphas, and his Atlas bites the heat bullet hard. In front of a DWF with 6 UAC5's. Guy spent the rest of the match bitching about how BS it is that he overheated because, and I quote, "My heat management is fucking 1.3!" Every time someone told him missiles and ballistics built up heat too, he would simply respond with "eat a dick." When I mentioned "learn to manage your heat better" he simply responded "I manage my heat just fine." Apparently not, seeing as he overheated. In the end he did about 160 damage, and should have had us dead to rights (he was in great condition before he overheated), but he couldn't resist hitting the alpha button.
Had a crappy death soloing earlier in a DWF with quad C-UAC 5's and 2 C-ERPPC. We're in Terra Therma and take the centre. We have a wall of 3 Timberwolves, 2 Warhawks and support at the top of a side ramp. They're stuck at the bottom after failing to push up. I type in that I'll push and they should follow hard. If possible fire on my targets. So I push. I'm going straight down their throats and rip apart an untouched DDC, disarm a Griffin and do minor damage to something else. I keep waiting for pressure of fire to ease as everyone else piles in..... except it doesn't and I crumple. Not a single one of them moved. On the good side I got to call them "Fucking cowards" before rage quitting the match.
I feel you Remarius...I had a TT the other night where I, and 8 other people, all said the same thing while approaching mid: "When we get there, DO NOT STOP at the entry, go into the middle!" We all said this. Only I went in. Every person, including the people also saying do not stop, did just that...and I got slaughtered in my Kit Fox
Shit. So I just died to a sneeze...farking allergy season. I loaded up my Nova with 6 ERMLs and 6 ERSLs, and was having a ball with it in Frozen City...I was shredding the back of an Atlas though, and it happened. I sneezed. And clenched my hands, hitting left and right click at the same time, alphaing. 12 lasers. When I was already at about 60% heat. "Durandal has killed Durandal." Ffffffffuuuuuuuuuu...
