behold the overly mighty treb hero with totaly different hardpoints: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKD5d87LES8#t=22
Better than expacted though, so it is fine. Good paintjob, though I always hope the head of the tbt to be more helm like. Thinking of (2x LLas, 4x SSRM2, BAP, 2x JJ, XL300)
Whelp, they gave us a new Trench Bucket... At least it's a decent set of hardpoints. Max engine, 4x Missile, 2x Energy, 4 weapons in the arms, 5 JJ. Not a bad setup... Still not enough to get my money... It's just a Shadowhawk 2D2 w/o the Ballistic slot and losing 5 tons...
I just want those hardpoints on a blackjack, and I think that it's very unlikely they release 2 hero mechs after one other with the same hardpoints >.< Just watch and see us get some weird-ass Huginn-like hardpoint configuration on the BJ hero mech
LOL! Enileph, that would make for one suicidal baby of a Jack! It might just work, but, they are so fragile... Brawling isn't their strongest skill. Would be one hell of a finisher, though.
VERGERE! There's a sight for sore eyes! And, I agree, the Boars Head, DS/HM and Misery aren't exactly phenomenal. Boars Head even less than Misery or DS/HM (Slayer and Metal so similar they're almost identical, little heavier energy on HM) Mediums now have the Yen-Lo, X5, Golden Boy, Grid Iron and Loup de Guerre... I still would have prefered a Blackjack Hero, but, the Assaults are lacking. However, at the Price point, how many people would pony up these days with the state of the game? Look at Heavys. Firebrand, Ilya, Jester, IV-Four, Flame, and, Fang. Little bloated on the Heroes in that weight class, too. Lights could've used a new hero, too. You've only really got the Death's Knell, Ember, and Oxide. Can't buy a Sarah's Jenner anymore and the Huginn is a JOKE. I would agree with Vergere, a Light or Assault Hero would make more sense, but, with the state-of-game, who's going to hand over $30?
I don't know who would... unless they release a spider hero with crazy torso twist, a downgraded engine, and an ac 10, call it a city battlemech, or like urban something... I'm sure people would buy it against better judgement.
Trust me, if they release a urbanXXXX I am sure many people would buy one. I would buy one for the sake of it. Hmmm... UM-68, I want! On the good side, it means smaller engine are available. That, and it is fun. Well as long as they either raise the top speed of this bug, or allow for a special rule that allows it to go below 10 HS. Original, sort of http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=53&l=31a1c9bb473184b763dc6efdc77970058fbb6d2e
From the numbers of IVY-4 and Loup de Guerre I've seen this month I suspect plenty of people are still buying hero mechs. Plus there's the unending hordes of Slayers but that's another story.
Agreed. Its a nicely balanced and useful mech but only thing to be aware of is the ballistic slots are on the outside of the fists, which themselves are large, so if you have large ballistics like AC10's they are wide. Think the blackjack. Makes it hard to shoot through gaps if close up.
I would like a spider hero (and missiles are obviuous choice here, but something ember-ish would be what I really want, hardpoints being 1E 1B for each CT and STs, so one could mount max engine and 5JJs stripping the arms). My Spider would be : Right Arm : 6 Armor nothing inside Left Arm : 6 Armor nothing inside Head : 15 Armor , MG ammo Left torso : max armor, 1xMG 1xMLAS, 1x JJ CT : Max Armor, 1xMG 1xMLAS XL285 Right torso : max armor, 1xMG 1xMLAS 1x JJ Left Leg : max armor 1x JJ, MG ammo Right Leg : max armor 2x JJs Endosteel, FF, player will need to upgrade to DHS.
It does not matter how many hardpoints you have, if they're all on the torso it will make this spider as useless and ill-conceived as the 5V (which problem is the impossibility of make any use of the verticality provided by jumpjets, more than anything else).
With enough Hardpoints and a good perk things would work quite well. Say, in theory, if you have 12 Ballistic hardpoints in the torso it is going to be a monster, one way or another. (before you ask, yes you still have JJ, top speed of 130+ and 4 tons of MG ammo for those hardpoints) Obviously I am making ane xtreme example, but what I mean is that with good hardpoints you can make some decent build even if it is side torso mounted.
No spider can really use the XL285 with no compromises right now. I would run it any day over the 5V. 169,3 km/h(it should mount XL285), 3MLAs and 3MGs in the torsos, with 5JJs, maybe won't be the best without arm mounts, but I'd sure have fun with such mech. Ofc, this could drop the 2 E hardpoints in the side torsos and place them in the arms, so you can armor them dropping some JJs and having the lasers in the arms, but I just like the concept of max speed and JJs even with the gimping option of no arms mounts.
