and no love for the Trebuchet? A quickdraw might be nice though, I have not played one, but a little more available variety would be a nice reason to try one, as i have always been a fan of the energy and ballistic combo.
Exactly HOW does the JR7-K "suck balls?" It can't be that it's missing a missile hardpoint, because the JR7-F has none and you seem to like that variant. It can't be that it has three module slots to start, because that's an advantage. It can't be that it has Ferro-Fibrous to start, because all worthy Jenner builds have Ferro-Fibrous. Take a "standard" JR7-D with four MLas, two SSRM, and BAP, and remove one SSRM while adding an AMS. You lose some firepower in exchange for added missile defense for yourself and your team. If you think it sucks balls you haven't faced it in combat yet. It WILL surprise you, especially since baddies seem to like interrupting light fights by raining LRMs on them. With that build you survive the rain and still kill the opposing light. ----- Jenner is already by far the most popular light 'Mech. That's why it got no love when max speeds were adjusted. I'm all for a Jenner Hero, but ECM isn't in the cards. Besides, we already have too many ECM lights.
The JR7-K trades a missile hardpoint for a module slot compared to the D. You'll be using medium lasers and SRMs on either, or possibly small pulse lasers. Advanced Zoom is useless with your weapon loadout. 360 Target Retention is obsoleted by Adv. Target Decay, and by torso-twisting. Adv. Target Decay could be nice, but all your weapons are direct-fire anyway. Cap Accel is nice. Air strike and Arty strike accuracy just aren't worth the slots. Seismic requires you to stop moving. That's bad. Sensor range is pretty worthless with nothing more than medium lasers. Target Info Gathering is best module. UAV is a spotter. Artillery strike is good damage, in conquest. Air strike is like artillery strike, but with a worse AOE pattern most of the time. Cool Shot 9 is great with the improved versions. Reduced cockpit shake will be nice, but if it matters you're getting hit more than you should be and will be dead anyway. Hill-climbing is utterly worthless for a Jenner. You have Jump Jets. So Cool Shot 9, Target Info Gathering, and Cap Accel. The only thing the K is likely to take that would work better would be the Artillery Strike, and the SRM4 will be more useful more often. Arty strike is nice vs bunched up big slow heavy/assault mechs, but it's not so good vs lights/mediums, and the main threats to you are lights/mediums. You're a Jenner, you can eat assaults for breakfast. The SRMs help more against the things that are an actual threat to you.
on the crappy Variant K. What a mech is equipped with from start does not matter, only idiots would run stock anyways. So having FF on from start only mean that the starting price is more expensive, thus mentioning starting equipment is meaningless. Giving up one missile hardpoint for an extra module slot really is not worth it. Basically any build a type-K can do a type-D can do equal, or better. Your suggested build can be done in a type-D just as well, proving further that the type-k is redundant. Currently there are not alot of modules you would want that is worth the flexability of another hardpoint, unless you are into consumables. Even with that your only advantage is a bit of artillary strike. I can do that with many mech. JR7-F has way more energy hardpoint, (those 6x MLas) so it is a different build so that is a whole different build set and topic alltogether. I DO ARGEE WITH YOU ON ONE THING THOUGH: As much as I would want a ECM jenner I don't think having a ECM jenner hero is a good idea. It would be too p2w if the hero is actually more powerful than the rest by a significant amount, or be equipped with something too unique, like ECM.
360 Target Retention Advanced Sensor Range Advanced Target Decay Target Info Gathering That is my four-module combo on the Jenner. 360 Target Retention is for me. Sometimes people do get behind me, even with near-360° twisting. This also still allows me to hit behind myself with Streaks (though this happens less now with the lock decay). Sensor Range isn't for me, it's for my team. Teammates appreciate advanced notice of what they are facing and where they can find it. Target Decay isn't for me, it's for my team. LRMers appreciate my ability to hold locks longer. Target Info Gathering is for me. I like to know what is damaged on my target as fast as possible. The JR7-K does not suck balls. If the JR7-D is the best light 'Mech, the JR7-K is within a few percentage points of it. It might be the least-regarded Jenner, but it's still better than any other light.
Hunchback... something with JJ or maybe ECM. Not really sure what else I would want for it, other than 2 Ballistics in each shoulder... Raven... I really really want to see a Raven hero, but the only way to really differentiate would be to make a swift little missile boat. I would love to see a Missile only ECM variant of the Raven. Give it 10x2 in each shoulder and 6x2 in each wing. You could build some pretty neat little setups with that. Jenner... There just needs to be a Jenner with ECM, period. Give it a ballistic slot, too, I don't care. I'd rock an AC/10 jenner with ECM and JJ all day long.
I voted for the locust, just to be that guy. I think it could be interesting. Maybe a 20 ton small laser boat with double AMS. I would like to see more lore based Hero mechs. Im not sure how that can be done, a lot of the main character's mechs arent even in the game. I think it would be pretty cool once CW is released if we start seeing faction unit based Hero Mechs. Like a Davion Heavy Guards Atlas or a Ryuken one for the Draconis Combine.
ok, you all predicted well. Now we got the Jenner Hero. Maybe not to our satisfaction, but there he is. Next Hero-Mech will be the Hunchback, if PGI has peeped into this poll.
It might end up being the Hunchback as the next Hero Mech since they made a hero for 3/4 founder mechs. If not then maybe the Quickdraw because you don't see many on the battlefield.
Pretty accurate what we got for the last heroes after this poll. PGI might have watchin us!!? What might come next? The Quickdraw, the Blackjack? Whatever, just don't give us again something like the GI or the Huggy. I fear we get a BJ with aweful hardpoints. I myself wish it had 2B 2E 2M or 1B 2E 3M.
I'd love to see 4M arms 4E torso or 4M arms 2B 2E torso. BJs have a tendency to get a lot of hardpoints in exchange for their relatively low mobility (average torso twist, low speed (other way around for 1x variant)) Anything that gives me a quad srm or quad SSRM + some support is going to be very interesting!
Quickdraw Hero "Clint".. with a Western flavour (maybe add a disc around the head reminescent to a cowboyhat, instead of the antennas, mech may carry a Beagle in the head) SRM 6 each torso side, 1xBallistic, 1x Energy per Arm (first hardpoint on top if the fist like a gun, second under the fist).
This is better: Quickdraw Hero "Solo", max Engine 400, comes with 340 XL Quirk, 15%faster movement speed and angle for arm and torso. HD: AMS CT: 1x Energy LT: 4x Ballistic RT: 4x Ballistic LR: 1x Energy RR: 1x Energy 6x JJ This mech is going to shoot first.
You know, People like you would be executed in some circles. I will give you one last chance. Repeat after me: HAN SHOOTS FIRST! HAN SHOOTS FIRST! HAN SHOOTS FIRST! HAN SHOOTS FIRST! HAN SHOOTS FIRST! HAN SHOOTS FIRST! HAN SHOOTS FIRST! HAN SHOOTS FIRST! HAN SHOOTS FIRST! HAN SHOOTS FIRST! HAN SHOOTS FIRST! HAN SHOOTS FIRST! HAN SHOOTS FIRST! HAN SHOOTS FIRST! HAN SHOOTS FIRST! Got It?
I like to think of it more as "Han was the only one who shot". Greedo never gets a chance (if I recall correctly, I may have to dig out my "Original Screening" DvD and check it out) to do anything other than be a "mess". Sometimes I wonder what Mr. Lucas thinks/was thinking. In other news, I think I would like to see a Shadow Hawk or Thunderbolt hero even though I don't own either chassis. If they did so, I would like it to have some lore element in it (Grayson D. Carlyle or Dechan Fraser for SH). Also, I seem to remember really liking both mechs in the novels, for whatever reason. Selfishly, I would like a Spider Hero, as I would probably purchase it (I love my Kurita Mechs, especially spiders!). Possibly some sort of missiles in it? Or at least maybe spider that actually has some fun hardpoints. Or... if they wanted, they could make a "Spider" (30 ton ballistic mech) Urbanmech if they really wanted, although that may bring a massive firestorm with it. But that's not really a spider, and people would be upset that it wasn't purchasable with C-Bills.
