... Made a bet earlier today with my friend who plays MWO with me from time to time. He was sayin' it was impossible to break 1500 on damage in a single game. You just won me $20.
I actually had a blast this weekend farming C-Bills on my Death's Knell. I had back-to-back 610 and 616 damage games, with a total of 5 or 6 kills between them. Later I had a 517 damage game with 4 kills and 4 assists. Untamed can testify I got 667 damage on another (at which point he goes "Skribs, you might wanna screen-cap that").
I'm still having trouble dealing with the fact that you scored in excess of 1600 points of damage with energy weapons.!
I've seen guys pull 1800 before with an Awesome in missile boat mode. They ran like 9 tons of LRM ammo back when LRMs were "god raining fire upon thee" and they would just sit on a hilltop somewhere and have people spot for them.
My top 3 favorite games - I used to run a JJ Artemis Splatcat back in the 1xJJ bug days. One game I saw my team rushing out into impending doom and decided to sneaky ninja climb and hang off the edge of the boundary line on Forest Colony, way up high above the high-side cave. The score was 6-2, and my last teammate was getting himself mobbed to death in the water. Meanwhile my teammates are cursing at me for being "useless trash" I then see a Cent and a Hunch run out of the tunnel below me. I jump down and quickly execute them with a point blank splat in the back. I proceed to cut across towards the water where my last teammate had just died. I catch an LRM boat from behind. Splat. Moving on towards the hill close to our base, I proceed to brawl with another Catapult (K2 IIRC) and an Awesome. They both entered the fight damaged, but they still managed to nearly rip off one of my arms and one of my legs. Limping my way over to our base and low on ammo, I jumpjet on top of the two unsuspecting cappers and leg the Jenner before he can run away. The other Hunch is too terrified to shoot straight with his AC20 and I don't give him a second chance. Final score, 6 kills, over 1000 damage, and a comeback that nobody on either team could believe. I even got some private messages on the forum about it afterwards. Favorite game in recent memory - Running my Devastator K2 post Gauss explosion (2 Gauss and 2ERPPC packed in the side torsos, standard 155 engine, 128 points of armor) and getting 5 kills 2 (critical) assists. Many lulz were had in Teamspeak. Funniest kill - Circlestrafing a full health Atlas to death in the rear armor with my Gauss-equipped Spider K within 2min of match start. I started laughing hysterically and promptly died to a revenge volley of SSRMs from his teammate. Or basically any match with more than 1200 damage in my Chunker or over 1000 damage in my Dakkaboat (6AC2s) I also have fond memories of running a 6 PPC Awesome before the Stalker came out and made it semi-practical.
My favorite favorite favorite kill ever was against a MWOMercs forumite who had been nothing but a pain in the arse (I think I'm allow to say that; here). This person hunted me down on NGNG TS3 and taunted me "I'm the better Jenner pilot blah blah blah" typical trash talk. So, we enter into a match together on opposite teams and we call dibs on each other in public chat. People were actually really cool about it and everyone kind of stopped what they were doing and watched this take place. One guy tried to interfere but his own teammate (I think it was his teammate) told him if he shot at me again he would get it in the back so he stopped. Anyways, me and... Well... So-n-So (I can't slander anyone just cause I think he is a whining douchebag) get into the soup together. Jenner on Jenner. I'm running my F and he is running his D. He's a bit faster than me but he's so angry in real life that I'm not overly worried because angry people make mistakes. I will be honest here; he wasn't a bad pilot but he was sooooo aggressive and didn't use terrain very well. I would engage and disengage as I needed to, making most of his missiles hit buildings or hills or whatever. He relied on those far too much (SSRMs). Anyways he did ding me up pretty good but he is all over the place on the map where as I try to be more methodical. So..... this goes on for about a minute and a half. All of a sudden I lost track of him as we were separated by hills briefly. God damn it! if I lose this I'll never live it down and I'll never hear the end of it; where the hell is he?!?!?!?! He decides to jump from one hill top to another, crossing (what he thinks) is perpendicular to me over top in the air. I guess people were watching him and saw this move (I do this a lot myself actually, but never in a duel) and yelled PULLLLLLLL in general chat as he was about 3/4 of the distance across. I saw the white lettering, pivoted and looked up unloading 6 MLAS into his CT as he flew across me. KAPLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. In the words of the bad guy from the Crow "Kaw kaw kaw, Bang, Fuck I'm dead" 2 seconds later he quits the match without even a word. Even if this was the ONLY kill I ever got in MWO it would still be my favorite and if I could trade my empire for a FRAPs of this I would do so in a millisecond because that little punk will forever know that he is my bitch and that I outfought him despite starting with Gauss damage to one of my legs (someone took a pot shot at me at the start of our duel) and having a slower mech that relied on aim and skill and not missile lock! Today, he is still a punk bitch on the forums and I still get a kick out of reading the reports he tries to send in about me. We all sit back and have a little giggle about the sheer hatered he has towards me. I know, I know; first world problems right?
I like how you said "I think I'm allowed to say that" regarding "arse" and then proceed to drop an F-bomb in the fourth-to-last paragraph Reminds me of all the people who complain about me and Untamed not wanting to fight on our lights, because we spend most of the match capping...only to find out and the end that Untamed and I each did triple the damage of his stalker. I get called worse things by my teammates in team chat than the Devs get called on Facebook...
I meant it more along the lines that I am allowed to call him an arse without actually mentioning his name. Im moderately professional in regards to my... moderation... of the official forums. As for dropping an F-Bomb here; you will notice that I am not tied up with pomp, ceremony and circumstance. People are allowed to say what they want, how they want, without fear of censorship here. As long as they are not attacking other members of MechSpecs all is well. Because of that freedom I find most people respect it and themselves and remain polite and cordial, even when disagreeing. Also, I am not afraid to bust out my Viking-fu if people step out of line.
Ah, okay. It just seemed kinda funny how it went from "I think I can say arse" to sounding like my ex-Navy coworkers.
I was trying to Elite my CPLT-A1 today, but I got tired of shooting missiles at people, so I switched into my K2 "Lancer MKII" for just one match of lasers and Gauss, and I had what I think is my highest scoring, and one of the most fun matches I've ever had. It was Tourmaline desert, and right off the bat, I tell our 2 Commandos to stay close and keep enemy lights off us. There's some chatter, one of the Commandos has a HUD bug, so he's going to jsut hover around us and hope to shoot stuff, but he also has TAG, so he asks if anyone is packing LRMs. Our Atlas replies that he's got 2x LRM20. I make a negative comment about how our only Assault is an LRM boat, and he says, "No, I have 5 MLas also". Okay, that's better than nothing, but still... We start marching toward center, staying pretty tight, so I'm feeling decent about our chances. Me and the other K2 set up for sniping on a ridge line, the others start to form a line just behind us. I see a Cent off to the right and take a few shots at him, he ducks back. I notice another enemy marker on my minimap, and turn left. Two hills away (~500m) there's a Hunch-4P. I aim at his RT, and fire off Gauss and LLas, expecting him to dive for cover. Instead, he fires back with his MLas, barely flaking off some paint at that range. I shrug, and pop him again, again he returns fire, so I hit him one more time, RT gone, and NOW he ducks for cover, nearly useless. By this time, the original Cent has brought backup, and a brawl is forming. I check the score as I move in to a better position, we're already down by one. I see an Atlas and Highlander moving (relatively) rapidly between hills, trying to flank our team. I take a couple of potshots at each of them, they ignore me. During the brawling, I damage the Dragon 5N(C) and the Highlander, but take damage myself. I manage to fall back behind our lines for a bit to re-position myself. As I'm trying to flank the enemy, I meet up with a friendly Cataphract, and we go around the hill together. Suddenly, over the hill comes the wounded Hunchback from before, which I quickly make short work of. By the time we get around the hill, the score is 3-4, and our remaining Commando has gone off to cap, being moderately damaged himself. More skirmishing, the Highlander nearly blows out my cockpit, before my impromptu wingman Cataphract takes him out. The score is now 5-5, and our Commando is currently capping. I look around, there is no enemy to be seen, so me and the 'phract circle another hill to find the enemy. I'm pretty badly damaged at this point, red cockpit, light orange CT, so I'm thinking that this might not go well. But we see two enemy Mechs (Atlas and Cent) heading toward their base. We warn the COM to expect company, and give chase. I dump 3 Gauss into the back of the Atlas, plus several LLas. I can't get any target info on him, so I just try to hit the same spot every time. Neither of them shoot back, but they make it around a corner before I can get anymore shots off, so we just pursue. Within about 400m of the final hill before we can see the enemy base, the Atlas comes barreling around the corner. I have just enough time to pop off a Gauss round, and expect to die, when my shot hits him in the LT, and he drops! I don't know if it was an ammo explosion, engine hit, or what because I never got any targeting info, but I was grateful for whatever it was. I slow down, to let the 'phract deal with the last guy, becasue the 'phract is still at ~80% health, and I'm just planning on sniping away at the Cent if I can. We get within sight on the enemy base, and our brave Commando is running around trying to do what he can. I see that the Cent has 3Mlas and 1 LLas, so I stay outside 540m, and hope that he's not a crack shot, while I pump LLas and Gauss at him. He's clearly getting overwhelmed, and doesn't know which of us to shoot at. The Commando getting in some good hits, so he keeps trying to shoot the Commando, so between me and the 'phract, we finish him off without much trouble. The last enemy has been capping, but with three of us in the enemy base, plus the nice head start our Commando gave us, it wasn't even close. I got a great score, but without the 'phract saving my butt, and the Commando dragging those two Mechs off the line, I wouldn't have made it. It was a great display of teamwork and skill that payed off very nicely.
I had an issue a while back taking a screenshot of my Mechwarrior scoring screen... it came out pure black. Since then, I've taken to using my camera phone... sorry for the quality. This was my best match so far. Unfortunately it was in a losing cause. Our team only had 6 players to the opponent's 8 (and two of our remaining mechs did less than 40 damage). I was the only one left alive before the other team got to 750 resources, but I felt like I gave them a good fight. Probably the most satisfying was that I killed both of the enemy Atlases when I was the only assault on our team.
I had an interesting one last night on my Raven 2X. Not necessarily a good fight (most of my damage came from AFKers), but some hilarious moments. It started out with me ragequitting from TeamSpeak, because we had two groups of 4 and they kept badgering me to do an 8-man. I don't like doing random 8s because we tend to go in our PUG mechs against a cheese build, so I declined, and finally I ragequit out of TS. I grumbled for a minute, then got back in my Raven 2X I was levelling (you can find my build in the Raven section, 200 XL, 2 ML, 2 LPL) and did a drop. Sure enough, 3 people I had just ragequit on were on my team, so I hop back into TS. It was alpine - conquest, my team started upper. Being a not-fast light (like 92 kph), I decided to push epsilon with my group while the real lights went south. The enemy decided some weird strategy where they sat basically between theta and their spawn, waiting for us to show up. Me and a Spider totally destroyed a cataphract, and then he continued to brawl while I moved to capture their spawn (can't remember if it's Sigma or Gamma). As I'm running up to the platform, I spot an AFK centurion. Stripped the armor off his back as I ran by, then carefully peeled off his arms and one leg, as well as most of the armor on the other, while getting the base slightly blue. Once it was blue, I ran up and started taking off front torso armor. At this point, he's basically got no armor, one leg, and no arms. He came back. So did my Spider friend. This poor Centurion was going 1v2 against 2 lights, while having no mobility and half his weapons gone. That's what he gets for going AFK. Needless to say, we finished him off pretty quick, and then the Spider went back to the brawl while I full-capped the nearby node. While I was there, I noticed ANOTHER AFK centurion. Started peeling off armor all over him before the match finished...and I had over 700+ damage on a throwaway light mech with a 200 XL.
I had an interesting match the other day on my really slow LRM boat (Awesome 8R with 200 XL and 4xALRM15). I was on Forest Colony, started on the coast. We were pretty close to our base, playing defensive, and the enemy was pushing in hard. I'd already been cored center torso in the front, so I tucked tail and ran. Well, a 40.5 kph Awesome running from a Highlander is kind of like that Family Guy episode where Herbert gets into a fight with the old German guy...it's like a slow-motion chase scene, just not in slow motion. Anyway, I'm running away, twisting around so I don't get cored back CT, and two of my unit members close in in heavies to block him from getting to me. He decides to give up the chase and run around the corner, and I'm pounding him with my 2 medium lasers (okay, maybe I'm just scratching paint). Just before he makes it behind a hill, he hits 180m away, and 60 LRMs later his engine is in mechanical heaven. That was a fun little battle.
I was there watching this match and it was down to the wire... That Jenner had no other options... but then again, neither did the rest of our team. Zer0 was our last man standing.
I have a screen cap of a very recent game I played with Mythweaver, Voidsinger and Cold Macaroni. Although I don't remember much of the game details, I was just surprised I even made it out alive at all. It was fast and frantic and our opposition seemed to overwhelm us at first... We got to grips and fought back to win the match with our lance putting in the numbers. The kills were greatly due to my team and were not mine alone so the credit goes to them. I have had on one other occasion a 6-kill result. But just so you know, more than half of them were team efforts and not one on one duels. This is just merely my screen cap and a result of a good team playing and working together.
This one pales in comparison to some of the other stories on here, but I just had my personal best. Conquest on Caustic Valley, started on Gamma. I finally have my COM-2D to Mythweaver's setup after what feels like grinding forever. As the round started I charged up to epsilon with the Spider, we capped it quickly and spotted the Trebuchet. I checked out of the area, but noticed that the enemy team hadn't even tried to cap anything yet. I hopped on Theta and had barely started capping it when the Ilya-Muro showed up and chased me off. By this time most of the rest of my team had caught up to theta and began to pound him into submission. I spun around and added my 2 cents until he dropped and finished the Theta cap. Kappa was still neutral so I went over there, capped that quick, and came back to find my team's atlas soloing the enemy Atlas, Catapult and one of the Jagermechs between Theta and Sigma. I primary on the atlas because he is taking crit damage. They kill off my team's atlas and I manage to take out the enemy atlas shortly thereafter. The Jagermech took off after the friendly atlas popped, so I took the opportunity to harry the Catapult (who was fit with 2 flamers and 2 gauss rifles). I managed to finish him him almost without much effort (I think the atlas had taken most of his armor off) as he tried to regroup with the Jager that had moved to Theta. The Jager proved more difficult with a complement of AC2's and lasers, and I'm not sure which of my teammates showed up to help take him down. During all this the enemy managed to take all of the points except Theta and Kappa, which was mid cap. I took off toward Kappa to find the Stalker sitting on it. I managed to use up the rest of my missiles scratching his paint before running away pretty heavily damaged. While I was running to Gamma the spider tells me that he is both out of ammo and legged but is by himself and trying to get to Sigma to cap it. He got to sigma about the same time I got to Gamma. Most of the rest of the time was me running like hell to stay away from the Trebuchet and Stalker and hoping that they weren't smart enough to re-cap (they weren't, they just wanted to chase me). The match ended 750 to 690-something with lasers flying over my head. Final Tally of 3 kills, 1 assist, and 360 damage done.
