Im using fraps 3.5.6 and I really need a good converter. it takes me a day to upload the raw video for a 10 minute recording. Most converters I try make the video very choppy. HALP!
Sony Vegas. Adjust settings and use windows media format. Smaller file sizes. Decent quality. Editing too.
Hey all... new here but figure I'd jump in on this one. Have been using MSI Afterburner for capture (free and decent options/quality for recording). As for converting... *sigh* short of paying for one for the time being I've simply been using the freebie MS Live Moviemaker that came with my Windows 7... decent enough job of processing and like that I can simply upload direct to YouTube with it. I've also been playing about with Nvidia Shadowplay. Does a very nice job of recording but my only downfall IS using MS Live Moviemaker. Before I can edit/process the video it converts it to a format it can use which loses quality. Have a line on a good Editor/Convertor... AVS Video Editor that another YouTube creator clued me in on, but being a cheap old guy, unsure about actually buying the product, but honestly, going to have to break down and get it if I want the quality of vids that I'm looking for... LOL
If you're uploading to youtube I wouldn't be terribly worried about quality so long as any text (loadout info, chat, etc) is legible. The compression they use pretty much shits all over any work you do to make the video 1:1 versus the raw video you recorded. I used Cyberlink Powerdirector for my last video that I uploaded since it uses intel's quicksync to speed things up dramatically. Only took three minutes to compress a three and a half minute video at 1080p from raw FRAPS footage.
I use Dxtory to capture as there is virtually no impact on framerate. Full version costs about the same as FRAPS, but there is a demo version to try. I highly doubt you'll go back. Tonnes of useful features including the ability to specify codecs. As for converting I use Handbrake. In my opinion, the best Opensauce converter, free and fully featured. Supports QuickSync as well as initial OpenCL for hardware acceleration. (Be sure to grab the nightly versions for maximum hardware compatibility) Dxtory Handbrake
Handbrake is the answer to my prayers. Thank you everyone who posted, when I destroy humanity you will be spared until last
