Well, technically a dead mech would return the same radar an immobile mech does, because all radar does is bounce energy waves off of things and record the echoes. But yes, I've gone to "help" on dead mechs quite a few times. I'd still like someone who voted yes to explain why they voted yes.
I am indiffrent...It dose not bother me so much . Not even sure why but it is only a minor annoyance to me. As for their reason...If they want to tell me where I killed the last guy just give me a quick visual que like a radiating bit of color from his triangle on the minimap when he falls over dead. Heck even leave the triangle on the minimap after he dies along with the radiating burst of color but take it off my hud and remove the paper doll.
Eh....It doesnt seem to bother me too much, just kinda makes the servers feel laggy, and underperforming.
I've finally gotten somewhat used to it. I now wait to see the "PLAYERNAME has killed PLAYERNAME" and then watch for them to lurch to the ground. Once the body stops acting like I'm a threat I turn and move on. I don't like the delay, but it no longer causes me to waste ammo.
Yeah Maru, but your teammates still waste ammo (although arguably so does the enemy). Today I watched someone get two salvos with SSRMs off on a dead target. Pathetic.
I will state that that is indeed pathetic. 2 Savlos on a dead target? The cycle time on SRMs would have given them time to realize the target was dead. Same for SSRMs.
lol this! But yea it is getting more annoying to me as I get used to it. Then agian I am a very odd person so this may well just be a delayed effect.
It was really pathetic because the target fell over immediately, but the fact remains that my teammates (plural) unloaded multiple salvos into the target without realizing it was dead. What does this mean? This feature is supposed to be so new players can learn where they killed the target, but all it's doing is making new players waste ammo. Instead of helping new players, it's hurting them, because they don't realize the target is dead and instead keep pumping ammo into it.
All it really needs is a better interface to make it clear that "It's dead, Jim." Gray out the target box, have the section break-down go to muted colors as well and highlight the section that actually resulted in a kill.
I like it because I got to know how somebody died. I don't, like a few of the specifics, though. Especially at first, I thought that the game had bugged. I've had a limb hanging off of a destroyed torso before, so I just assumed that it was a glitch that kept someone alive after death. Then I realized what it was. There are a number of changes I would make, though. 1) Get rid of the 'mech icon on the map (or change it in some way to indicate death, like a skull, I dunno). 2) Get rid of the IFF icon (or change it to a clear dead marker) 3) Do not allow the 'mech to be re-targeted. Of course, the W has killed X via Y to the Z would do the job just as well. Plenty of games do this with weapon and hit location icons. For instance, they could put a mini paperdoll next to the name to show what components were left at death.
This has gotten me teamkilled a few times when someone hugs me as I kill them but Lance Armstrong on other side is still pumping kilo joules of coherent light into the spot their rear torso was - my face. I see no purpose for it and its extremely annoying. If they die I want them off my radar and out of mind. Especially when they're targeted and being nailed by team other side of a hill and I plod over to go shoot an they're actually a 2 second corpse.
I don't see any benefit from this change, merely the downside of wasting ammo and time on an already destroyed target. Don't like.
Yup, muscle memory. I keep wasting ammo on dead mechs. Now its to the point where I second guess. I have to watch chat allot more frequently now to do a quick name check for the dead pilot in chat and the one i'm shooting at.
