This was a tough choice, I won't lie. I ultimately settled on the Firebrand, as it's a simple Mech for me with fantastic results, but I make regular use of my Protector, my Misery, and my Dragon Slayer. And am slowly working up the courage to get that Pretty Baby mastered... Still need to pick up a Heavy Metal, though... And yes, I do own an Ilya. It's mastered, but it doesn't see a lot of use.
I actually don't care for the 3D phract... It doesn't have the hardpoints I prefer. The Ilya is a very versitile machine once you get used to the fact that you are shooting from the hip, and with three of AC/5, 10, LBX or UAC and the tonnage to carry enough ammo for even a lengthy engagement, this mech is a monster weather you are in city, open field.... It's the first Hero mech I purchsed, and the first mech I pulled over 800 dmg in. The only other thing that comes close for me is Firebrand, though I am starting to enjoy Jester quite a bit...
I think we're playing a different game than they are or something. As for Blagg's opinion of the Misery... lol'd.
I owned a Flame at one point..... and promptly sold it because I couldn't figure out how not to die in it. It's got such a big nose that is so easy to hit, even at 90+mph. My breakdown of Hero's owned: Ilya Firebrand Yen-Lo-Wang (sold) Flame (sold) Golden Boy (meh) Jester Yen-Lo-Wang (re-puchased cuz it's just so damn cool lookin... and cuz I really want to like it)
Wang can easily run Airstrike+Artillery, if you feel like blowing through c-bills for a modest damage boost. Actually, that could be pretty baller in conquest.
I have all but the Fang, can't justify it for 4500 MC. I love the Jester 1st, followed by the Dragon Slayer.
What? Moonsword must not have seen this yet cause TDK has 0 votes still. I'm actually surprised by some of the numbers; the Ilya is dominating by double than 2nd most popular Hero. That is a significant metric.
Can I change my vote? I wanna change my vote to the Protector! Love that Mech so very, very much. The Firebrand has more advantageous weapon positions, but that Protector is just too much fun to pilot. EDIT: Well I'll be damned; so I can! Thanks, Michael!
Vote changed.. Poor old Wang has been demoted to number two position since the sale. Been waiting for the dragon slayer for a while now and was love at first drop. Tried a Blagg build which was good and I had fun with it, then played on smurfy for a while and made my current build... omg. I look at things and they blow up. I think the Dragon Slayer has the perfect balance of speed and hurt for me and is a stark contrast to the trial victor that i played a while back.
