This build takes the basic Laser-Vomit (4x LPL and 4x MLaser) and turns it into something a bit more sustainable in a close fight. Whereas the cML are quite hot for the amount of damage they do, the cSPL (with the most recent patches buffs) have a very nice damage/heat ratio. So basically, this build gets you even higher DPS than the one with cMLasers, though it loses alot of its capability at mid- to long-ranges. With 4 points less alpha, but much faster firing, and with alot better heat-efficiency, this thing makes for a great front-liner. (Named for the beautiful color of cSPLasers.)
Still have only the Basics on this, but it tears up. These screenshots are from Thursday, before the challenge started; so I didn't mind getting kills at all. Oh, and this second match was also the incident of my first ever DOUBLE KILL!
Wow, I like this alot. I've been looking for a build for my third TBR since the fixed JJ change and this looks top notch. I originally had the 2x cLPL 4x cML but it got a little too hot since then. Definitely very excite to try this out.
Yeah, I did consider that, fx8230. The better alpha is definitely nice, and the heat efficiency is already good enough to support it. The one reason I didn't do it though, is that you'd almost have to have a 3rd weapon group for that 1 SPLaser. It isn't actuated like the other 4, and it doesn't have the range of the LPLs in the other torso-mounts. Otherwise though, it's definitely a nice option for this build
Testrun on new map Another new map, same mech. Overall the spl range and heat gen are so low that I still prefer a 5th, I usally hit with the rest and when I don't it generates 3 heat on a 24 DHS mech Either way great idea ! also unespected because very few pilot mount small lasers on heavies now.
Just had one of my best scores with this. So much easier (heat wise) to work with than the ERML version. Can pretty much just alpha all the time:
VERY nice Whipass! Great job! And yes, this setup can alpha quite a while before getting hot. And the loss of range compared to the ERMLs is hardly noticeable most matches, as the fight usually gets close fairly quick anyway.
