I've had people asking about the PPC Stalker I occasionally run, because what Stalker pilot hasn't run one? It certainly fit the meta, and performs exceptionally well do to maximizing the heat efficiency. It is however not what I envision for the Stalker. I personally love my Stalker as a Brawler with lots of SRM's and Lasers, but it just isn't viable right now. So when I pony up in my Stalker, this is how it rolls.
I run this exact build when I run PPCs, though I keep the arm armor maxed, and drop the necessary amount from the legs instead. It's definitely the best quad-PPC Stalker build there is. Some might say you should go XL for greater speed, but it requires dropping a DHS, which reduces the overall efficiency of the 'mech.
Glad someone still runs this build even after all the PPC nerfs. I might just have to break it out again myself.
You are better off with the 300 STD engine to get the extra 1 DHS in engine and you lose 1% cooling efficiency, however if you lose a torso (and you will), you also have 1 extra DHS in the CT that you can't lose. You will move at 62.9 KPH, about 5 KPH faster than this version. Lastly, you will have 2 ML to actually do some damage if the mechs close in below 90KHP, which they will if they are not idiots.
Those are valid points, Rhent, and the change might prove advantageous in certain situations where speed is actually a necessity. But in general, this build needs heat efficiency more than anything else, so losing 2 DHS for 5 kph does not seem like a good trade IMHO; especially as this is a sniper build, so the speed is not so necessary as it would be in a brawler. Also, your build requires Endo-Steel. I for one, (and I recommend this to others all the time), NEVER put Endo on a Stalker, as this Chassis needs all the slots it can possibly find to put heat-sinks in. However, if I were to set up a Quad-PPC Stalker the way you have, with Endo-Steel and a STD300, I would bring a 5M/Misery instead. This setup drops one MLaser for an extra DHS, and enables you to put the remaining Laser in the CT, for Zombie purposes.
gaining only 1dhs and lowering leg armor and speed, but at least you have all slots free for other builds.
