DON'T The thick polycarbonate does allow for blade contact without breaking. You can do some really cool tricks, and can actually have fairly realistic looking blade contact without fear of it breaking. BUT SPARRING IS STILL A NO-NO. I have seen these things break before on full speed blade to blade smashing. This includes both this and even the better and tougher ones from that mythical Taiwan Sabersmith. This can be fun, but don't treat it like a bokken or somethin. But yeah, just don't smash it too hard and things should be ok. Reenacting fights are ok too, just don't smash them too hard. Sauce: I know some local RebelLegion/501 people.
Sigh, I do miss my Space Pimp status..... too bad, I was looking forward to actually sparring with it.
I don't like star wars, because the godawful 1-3 movies and the ridiculously bad "special editions" of the original movies were all soo cheesy that I can still smell the cheese even after so many years. However the trailers for the new movie are masterpieces. What really got me is the music and the girl's acting is kinda impressive. I still think that the "red lightsaber - BAD GUY, blue light saber - GOOD GUY" thing is just stupid though.
So some few days ago, there was a Super Cut of all the available Trailer/TV Spot/Preview Materials in chronological order.. If you watch it, you can get a very good look+feel of the whole movie. Sooo... ***SPOILER ALERT!!!*** Don't watch if you don't want to get a maybe false first impression. Imo the movie looks fantastic, the story-telling - i hope it can get close to Episode IV..
There is actually ==>Lore<== created to explain the red/blue, green, etc. thing..... Which was originally just a choice to make sure the saber stood out from it's surroundings on camera. Read it I have, since in the process of making one I am. A bad read it is not, if interested in such things one is.... Edit: Sorry about the Yoda speak...
Not sure if the crstal lores are still canon anymore, oh well. Well, generally speaking the red ones are a bit more powerful, but lacks other more interesting quality in some cases. Red ones are synth crystal. So rather than having to go on a wild goose chase in the wilderness for som part of your weapon you just go get one. Jedis seems to dislike them for some reason.
I wish Finn the human would have a partner creature, like a ewok named Jake or something. That would be epic.
yeah, Jay-Jay Bonks the Ewok! nah seriously the "lore" about the saber colors... psshh, I only know th emovies, never read any of them books or anything. It just stands out to me, you know, red is EVIL and blue Is GOOD (let's ignore how incredibly impractical light swords would be IRL). That's one of the reasons why I want the original un-edited 1977 version. Luke's sword isn't actually blue but white-turquoise-ish.
This: I like the cute little robot on the side, kind of like Benders Star Wars Edition. He is totally a lover, and a fighter too.
I just saw the TV Spot #7 last night. My son and I are totally stoked! "Red Squad. Blue Squad. Take my lead". That takes me back to being a kid and hearing "If we're going in, we're going in full throttle. That aught to keep those fighters off our backs". Abrams has one chance to knock this muthafucka out of the park!!!
