Solo Challenge: Brokeback Pug: Why can't I quit you?

I'm dysgraphic (motor neuron disorder, makes it painful to write by hand among other issues) and so I understand the feeling.

 

Another night, another sad, sad match

 

One of those matches where I did everything right, it just wasn't enough. I finally built my Misery for combat to get it through basics, and found myself here. I could do no wrong most of the match: gave good direction to the team (which some of them even followed), cored out several mechs that teammates killed, legged 2 lights with amazing AC20 shots (making a GIF of one of them ), even got a fantastic double kill for both of my K's with an airstrike as I backed two assaults away from me in a panic.

But they had us outcapped, and outgunned at the end. I found myself up against a King Crab and two Dire Wolves as the score ticked to a close; I cored the Crab while the wolves were hanging back (teammate stole the kill), and nearly took one of them before I went down too. Knew we were losing, so I had went for as many kills as I could.



If one lance hadn't gone to Epsilon like we told them, this would have been a win.

 

I notice that I have the majority of these...does that mean I play too much? This one was particularly painful. Alpine Peak Assault, my dumbass team has a full lance along with a Spider 5D start circling under the hill around J8 with us desperately pleading them to stop. No such luck, they get hit hard and a couple pull back, but we're down 2...and I'm the only one trying to push the hill. Suddenly I see a lot of seismic, they have come down and have us completely camped from above.

I figure "fuck it, this was lost in the first minute" and decide to make a push up...and promptly run into 3 mechs that I instantly core out, only to have the kills stolen from me (their VTR, TDR, and FS9). I also do some bad damage to ELETTRO's Vindy, and he fades behind cover. I peek out and see a LRM Stormcrow and their HBR (4 ERML/Gauss) at the top of sniper hill. Our ECMs are all dead...this means rushing a SCR that's at least LRM40 or so. I manage to goad the team (who's finally caught up) in charging with me, but as I do I notice the two people in the back have stopped in their tracks...so yeah, we're screwed. I fire some AC shots at the SCR and push him behind cover, then engage the HBR full on. His Gauss hurts, but his aim is bad enough that he hits all over my mech, and I blast his CT out for my kill. I then chase the SCR away, peppering him with fire, only to have the kill stolen. It's now 9-10, they have the extra man, and I start engaging the DWF and blow off his side torso. I try to aid my last teammate with the ERLL from range, but I can't manage a kill and he goes down...then the DWF engages. I had him so cherry red by the end of the fight that I don't know how he lived, but he was able to drop me.

Queue disappointment (but not surprise) when I view my team's efford. Note Bravo lance, who cost us the game in the first minute...but Charlie didn't help much either, except for the D.




Edit: I didn't have time to write about the match that came right after this one. The next match was, by far, the single worst one I've ever seen. I should've grabbed a screenshot of the end score, but I was too disgusted (and in a hurry).

The map: Forest Colony. The game type: Conquest. When the lobby loaded, the enemy team was fuming about something...took me a second to notice that a unit had sync dropped, and had 7 people together on my team. Shitty thing to do, but nothing I could do about it...so I stayed quiet. Game starts and my team is on the gamma end of the map, so I roll my Dragon 1N over towards Epsilon and the cave; as I run through Eps, it caps to 100%, and I continue toward the cave with a Timber Wolf in my lance. We go through the arch, and I look at the map...and notice that the other 10 people in our team are all stacked up on Eps for some reason. I pop off a warning in chat to the lancemate, but he either doesn't see, or doesn't care...and keeps running. As soon as he's in the open, 3 streams of LRMs and a shit ton of lasers start hitting him. Not good.

So, I try to provide some cover fire so he can retreat, but he just keeps charging and dies...he wasn't part of the 7-man-in-solo-queue, and I backed off...only to notice that, in the past 30-40 seconds...the other 10 men on the team are still stacked up at Eps. I start begging them to move it, and a couple PUGs break off and charge the tunnel, but the 7-man stays right where they are as the reds slowly encircle us.

It was a slaughter...they fell on Eps, tore apart the team, and then took me down...I managed our one and only kill by head shotting a Cicada, but I died with a massive 290 damage.

Queue the scoreboard, and I have done more damage than the entire 7-man combined...3 of them did 0, 2 did under 10, one did around 25, and the "best" did 63. Can't remember the unit tag, but it was something like "9th" or "i9th", can remember. Disgusting match

 

Sigh.

Why the *bleep*? Oh well...here's the match.

 

This one actually has a nice story to how it ended...



Match goes sour early on: a bunch of people chase after XACE in his Firestarter, and they use that to roll over us hardcore style. We lose 2-3 guys right away, and at that point I'm just trying to do what I can. I soften up their MDD and WHK (can't finish the WHK though), as well as one of their Timbers; I end up killing the MDD and TBR, while the VND (who I cored) and KCC (who I also cored) go down. I also do a good amount of damage to the BJ, but in the end, we're just doomed. I look up and notice that the only ones left are me and xpq the DWF, so I run to him with my ECM and shield him as best I can. They all form up and start coming in, but we're trading blows. First one comes in, I get a alpha off to his face, and the DWF turns and massacres him, but overheats doing it. As he's overheated, a mech comes in at his back, I thought it was an SCR at the time, but now I don't know WHAT it was...I was busy. Anyway, I alpha it, and he's nearly dead, so he backs off. DWF and I back into one of the side areas on HPG and funnel them through the entrance; the DWF finishes off the crab and rips components off the Kit Foxes and TDR while I desperately try to finish them...but sadly, it was just too much. We got a few kills right at the end, but they overran us.

Best part though? With 825 damage, that should be a qualify...don't think I had any team damage Edit, yup, match score of 135. Mwahaha!

 

Played this game few days ago.



To be perfectly honest some of my teammates did a fine job, two of them especially, but I found amusing that among the seven destructions the enemy suffered five were from me, and the other two from... overheating
Must carry harder!

Overall I think I must be a curse to my teams at times....

 

This one made me mad...we started out so well, coring a TBolt and killing a Dire and Atlas that the team left behind...then a lance of our people decided to play hero and go off to fight apart from us against the remaining 10, and they regained the edge, then rolled us with that momentum. Should have been a win...

 

Grr...first game of the night. So that's how it's gonna be today, eh MWO!? 4 people under 50 damage, and 3 more under 250 That, and I got almost all of our kills (actually, I got most damage done on the assist too, so...)

First off, I should have 3 kills We got behind the King Crab early in the match and I cored him to red with one alpha, only to have the SCR steal the kill. I also got the BJ down to cherry red, and he got the kill again However, I soloed that damn Misery, who took at least 3 SRM18 volleys with zero damage being reported Almost got a 4th down too, but they focused my legs and beat me hehe.

Still...the team screwed themselves by stopping instead of countering the C3 push on Frozen City, we lost 4-5 people in the first few seconds of the initial engagement because they didn't follow instructions

 

What can I say I tried.. oh I tried so hard.... the last 3 I saw were a ballistic cat, a DWF that was hiding and ambushing people at the back of the citadel and a PPC sniper on the top of the citadel. Almost took down the DWF before the sniper got me.... while trying to rotate away from the K2. Their King crab was guarding their base.

Technically doesn't count btw but ....... I TRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

First Resistance entry for me! Even killing a lance and leading in damage couldn't help...

That little Panther isn't even fully basic'd out. Although I have to admit that the little shits are *ludicrously* tough, the amount of abuse they can take before finally breaking down is kinda insane.

And if I hadn't overheated at least twice at the worst possible moment I might have gotten that Jenner too.

Le sigh. This game: I was shouting at my team, OVER AND OVER, to push over C3 on Frozen City, especially when we learned the other team had a crab in the canyon...and they just would not move! This went from an easy win to a horrid loss. One high point though, at one point I zoomed through the enemies and came up behind @SirHitman just as he poked over C3...his CT was cored front, not back, so I faceplanted into his back and trapped him until a teammate shot him

In the end, I almost had a 5th and maybe even 6th kill (their DWF and Atlas were both on the verge of death), but the TBR nailed me first.
