Heh, the one and only night I've ever grouped with guys like Rem, Falc, and Solahma, we hit Alpine Conquest while I was in my FS9-A with SPLs. I was cursing my luck, but we tore through them, and couldn't figure out why. Turned out their assault lance went Gamma. In GROUP QUEUE. A DWF spent the whole match walking. I...can't even...
PUG is great if you just want to care about testing shit, rinding and leveling... you don't need to care about other fuckers in the team, nor would they care about you. When I am in a group I feel guilty somtimes when I am trying to level a mech or grind, and sometimes end up using some better mech instead of clowning/testing shit. Plus, you quit the moment you die in pug to launch another game, so it is more effective to level/grind.
I play to win not to lose and its a feature available to every player using in game only features if they can be bothered.
I try not to troll from the grave, but I've had my moments. They tend to be either noting horrible builds (a la the other thread), or laughing when someone derps and legs themselves or something
During filming of Pug Life E1 I did 3 PUG drops last night back to back and I must say that I was amused at the sheer rage some of the guys manage to spew from the grave. Half of me wants PGI to put on a Dead Scan for the chat window but then the other half of me feels my soul is nourished by the tears of the dead.
I'd take it seriously, to, if I dropped more than $1000 on it! Just drop in your golden mech after your rage games and shame everybody with your blinding, brilliant mechs.
Phew...as painful as that match was, at least you can look at the scores and see that you had some competent players. I mean, your enemies had 5 people over 600 damage (and 2 1000+ players), and you still had 5 other guys right around the 450 mark with a good number of kills. That looks like it was a pretty good match overall, which is a comfort.
Well the irony is that the Direwolves convinced me I hated assaults. I also play aggressively so most DWF's pilots tactic of hiding and using their team as meat shields doesn't really work for me. I like to locate and engage the enemy in a furious fight not slowly plod to wherever the enemy are located. The Nova isn't so bad but put against a Wolverine nowadays.... there's a reason I've not seen a Nova in a match in months.
Oh it was a great match, except at the end when I went after the 2 wolves to try to save last teamate who charged them into the base, I got into a brawl with a bright orange ct and I got stuck on a building, died madly torso twisting trying to get loose .. Who knows how it could have ended if I stayed up high and peekaboo'ed. It was a group drop drop and everyone fought well so I can't complain except about my last decision (always goes that way right?). I just didn't think I'd qualify for the strict guidelines Skribs challenged...
Had to post this one, even though it doesn't strictly qualify...just because it annoyed me. So. The damage scores. Both King Crabs were set up as LRM Boats, they got some damage in when I put up a UAV, and again at the end when they overran us, but that was it. The AWS-8T was the same way (think he had LRM20 in each torso), I know the CN9-AH was a LRM boat too. So you can tell that my team was just gonna camp. I tried, dammit. I did everything I could, but I just couldn't turn the tide. I ran in and UAV'd, they got a TON of volleys in before it got shot down near the end of its timer. Kept running in, marking, doing everything a Raven should...nothing. 5-6 teammates just sitting back waiting for us to tag something. And every Assault on the team... Siiiiiiiiiiiigh.
The sad thing is I carried my group IN A SPIDER. Only person to break 300 damage and only one of three to get a kill.
Not *quite* horrible... but for the situation. Viridian Bog Skirmish. My team started in the D2, E2, E3 area. I'm in my TDR-5S(P) and move up on the C4 hill with triple larges, playing peek-a-boo laser against targets on the C3 hill. I sweat at least half the team appears to be 100% stationary in the C4 valley... or what I might want to call "Death Valley". Meanwhile, it's quite obvious that the enemy is shooting at them from C3. Maybe because I was playing sneak out, shoot, sneak back, I was unable to see what was really going on... but I swear, nobody attempted to push around to climb up hill C3 and take the fight directly to the enemy... instead of being shot from above.
Sigh...first game of my night, and it starts like this: Had one guy go run off and insta-die, a Stalker nub who wasn't getting locks for LRMs and was just firing randomly into our backs (which I know because there were no red doritos). My favorite was the Highlander (don't know who since the score screen bugged) who wouldn't stop fucking walking right in front of me. I would be set up and unloading AC rounds into someone and he would walk directly into the stream of fire over and over. Pretty sure I did at least 80 damage to his back and arms from that shit. Grr. How do I find these people?
