Solo Challenge: Brokeback Pug: Why can't I quit you?

I like reading the occasional snippets of team chat under the scoreboards.

Like Durandal's 'really team....'

I still think it's extra sad when I only manage to pull off under 500 damage and still almost twice that of next teammate...

The last 2 to die were ones I'd cleared down to bare fragments before their trio managed to take me down. Our Huginn had been saving our base and got back in time to put a volley into each and took them down, but sadly their almost untouched 3L managed to fire first and took down our Huginn.

 

the disco on their team almost got as high a match score as some of my pugs... I was running my 2ac5 1ac2 build unelited because I don't like playing meta and only have one shawk. It still made the whole other team back down in groups.

also this thread should be called Matchmaking Demands You CARRY HARDER!

 

I should edit and I meant too that your team needs to be rolled for even sweeter sadness.

 

I often have such situations in pugs .. then i ask myself - am i too good (no i don't think soo).. or are they too bad (strongly have that feeling)?

 

I try to be more positive than that when I play, but sometimes...there's just no explanation - the worst one was where I was top damage, and only one other guy even broke 200...and most were under 100. For fucks sake!

 

Checked my laptop but only found two more screenshots...one that's on the verge of qualifying, so screw it, I included both

Damage wasn't there, but 2 more points on match score would've qualified this one But it was in an MLX, so I want bonus points, dammit!


Thought this one qualified at first, but I didn't see there was one other guy who did decently Still, I'm posting anyway since I remember how aggravating this match was. We had 4 guys (the 4 lowest damage) all run in blindly with no one on the team close enough to come to their aid, so there was nothing that we could do to help. By the time even I got there in my Firestarter, 3 of them were dead and gone. I managed to take down the Mad Dog, DWF, and Summoner before I fell, but we had just taken too much damage by that point.

Incidentally, if I remember right, the BJ-1X died to a TK when I weaved between him and a teammate, and they missed me with some SRMs

 

Jeez epikt! How did you do 1300 dmg in an oxide? You must have critted on about every shot. Was there a strike or something that did a couple of hundred damage?

 

Not as good as epikt's Oxide, but look at my lance...

 

I didn't get a chance to play yesterday but if I get a chance to do some solo drops today I'll embrace all of your games in my heart whenever I get rolled inevitably.

My new goal is 800+ minimum on a loss, but I'm playing my BJ's a lot lately so that'll be fun.

Durandal if my pug comes up against yours at least we'll know one of us will be a winner on this thread.

 

If your PUGs and mine interact, there's a chance the world will be destroyed in the resulting black hole (suckhole?).

 

The universe will implode in a giant fart sound and community warfare will be delayed another month.

 

How do you handle the Frustration being the one doing all the job but cannot get the Win because of the weak performance of the whole team?

Do you cry, punch a bag, writing mean text to your team at the end, or do you just quit silently and start a new match?

I threaten to uninstall the game and I get gloomy while I keep launching new mechs till I win or I lose my humanity and go be sulky. I then debate if I need battletech in my life or not, and am I happy with my life currently?

 

This is the kind of loss I can at least log off on without feeling too gloomy. I'm mad at myself not finishing off the last two because I made some sloppy mistakes but it was really fun and it was originally 4v1, killed the catapault and hunchback. The Atlas was cored yellow and I should have jumped back down into Jenner Alley after I got Hunchback... but noo...

So I'm happy about the overall match in that it was intense and I'm too busy going over what I should have done if I could go back in time.

 

I have over 30 of these since I saw the carry harder thread on the main site and laughed a lot. So here are some of my favorites.


Kintaro couldn't carry hard enough on those wide shoulders (before srms were fixed)



BJ-1DC Couldn't on it's much smaller back. (bonus points for out killing and damaging the entire enemy team)



The little Jenner was crushed trying to carry the weight of the whole team



Even the mighty JM6 was not able to carry hard enough (oh look there's don )

 

Sometimes i quote Obito in the teamchat, for seeing Pugs not fighting together or running away/hiding in the back:

"Those that break the rules and regulations are scum. But those who abandon their comrades are worse than scum."

and then i go on pugging, knowing that War is Hell! Shit happens.. and think of Rainbow Ponies

 

During the game I posted, I remember that after I died I posted on the chat something like "damn, I thought we were winning".
And I really was. All the game I was so on the rush I lost all track on how the others were doing and was thinking "OMG what a stomp we're so gonna win this!"
