hell yes we are. If you were piloting a giant Atlas you cant tell me its not possible to punch the shit out of something. This isnt something we are talking about happening right now, you know. Just friendly banter about a cool idea.
I understand your critique points. The implementation of Melee Attacks affords new challenges and must be done AFTER some major things like Hit Detection/Collision are fixed perfectly. But in the end Melee Attacks would add some new Playstyle elements which would be damn useful. As mentioned before, if Ammo runs dry or Fireweapons get destroyed, you still can attack with your arms&legs. Its just realistic. I also like the idea that Attacks with Melee Weapons should be limited, as they should get destroyed after some hard punches, so players are forced to use them very tactically.
Tabletop has kicks, punches, death from Above... and mechs with melee weapons, like Hatchetman & Axeman.. i would love to use thoe tactics, and would love to have them in the game.
