This is some interesting stuff, this will have a lot of impact and will be hard to judge. HSR is definantly the most longed for. Edit: Yes, the Orion is here and yes, I will get it too but game mechanics first, mechs second.
Holy crap, they nerfed the PPC/ERPPC again? I haven't seen many builds running ERPPCs since they upped the heat last month, and now it will probably be all but gone. Also, no news on the AC2 heat issue.
I already do not use PPC/ERPPC because of the amount of heat they generate, when you combine that with the speed of those weapons being tweaked down ... making leading targets at range a bit more difficult ... I think they may have been over nerfed. Since I don't use those weapons, it is a good change for me but I hope they rethink them.
Source: Official Forums Gauss Fire Delay: The Gauss Rifle requires a 0.75 second charge before it will fire. Once charged, the shooter has 1.25 seconds to fire the round. If not fired during the 1.25 second charge, the Gauss Rifle will instantly dissipate the charge and require another charge to fire. Both the cooldown bar and the weapon group ready light will turn green when the Gauss is ready to fire. Gauss projectile speed increased from 1200m/s up to 2000m/s, internal health increased to 5 (up from 3).
I wonder if the .75 second charge up time happens after a full 4 second cool down or if it is enabled at 3.25. From the way it is written, it sounds like you have to wait the full 4 seconds ... which, instead of being able to fire every 4 seconds, makes it only capable of firing every 4.75 seconds. Again, a weapon I don't use ...
Source: Official Forums Made various improvements to host state rewinding system and hit detection overall.
Hmm ... I wonder what this means. Are light mechs going to become more easy, or more difficult, to hit ... or was it applying incorrect amounts of damage to the incorrect places? I started Mechwarrior with Stalkers, Jagers and Cataphracts ... I just went to the Jenner and it freaking rocks. The manueverability, the speed, its responsiveness is unbelievable ... while it lacks the fire power I am used to, it is forcing me to look for weak or vulnerable spots on a target and as such, is good training for whatever mech you use. I hope the tweak to hit detection doesn't make these any less durable then they already are.
awaiting the MLaser nerf.. its one of the most powerful weapons in the game after all. [/rant] ERPPC/PPC slowdown is weak. It's already requires some leading. The heat issue on top is double weak. A nerf that did not need to be introduced. It is being religated to being a support sniper weapon. You want to use it, fine, also add some MLasers or something to your build, because it wont be practical to use it for close combat. (i'm just unhappy that my spider is all of a sudden a lot less useful) The speed up of the gauss is welcomed. The extra zoom in looks like it will be useful.
Actually the PPC/Gauss nerf is a buff to light pilots. 1) It will be even harder to lead target lights at 150+ kph. 2) 0 damage within 90 meters means get an ERPPC or just keep the PPC and wave at the spider as he humps your leg. 3) .75 chargeup time will kill Gauss snipers trying to snipe lights on maps with lots of cover. By the time you are fully charged and ready to fire...the target is lost.
I'm almost wondering if this change to the PPCs is due to the HSR improvements which may have made it way too easy to blast through light's legs.
My first impression after reading the patch.Notes: All Multiple (ER)PPC+Gauss.Builds are very broken now. Im really surprised about the new Heat Values of the (ER)PPCs! Really!!! Didnt expect that. WOW!!! WTF!? You cant use multiple (ER)PPCs properly and with that delay of the Gauss, it is really annoying to snipe in combination with the (ER)PPCs.. Since last patch i never used a single Heavy Sniper Build with multiple ERPPCs myself, max. Dual PPCs on Stalkers and Awesomes. But now i recommend strongly to only use one (ER)PPC (+ Gauss) for Sniping if you dont want your Mech to kill you in a big Boom of Overheat. You must be insane to use multiple ERPPCs with Heat of 15 (!!?). Well, PGI intented to destroy all Heavy Sniper Builds to force us to rather go into Mid-Close Range Combat. This time they might succeed it totally. I*m not a Sniperplayer, so im not really pissed by this Change. But i can understand how many (Sniper)Players will really get disappointed and maybe stop playing MWO. I stick to my LRMs and Autocannons plus Lasers, and welcome the bigger Massacre now! Ow, and i get myself prepared/covered for the new Shitstorm!!! Long live the LRMs and Autocannons!!! (shit, this maintenance takes soo long. I play some Rounds LoL for now... ) Blagg
Na. It's called HSR bro. Supposedly, it just got fixed. Kinda like how the power nerf supposedly fixed stuff, too. Heheh.
Well I guess I see the glass half full. HSR will do nothing for PPCs at 0-90. And .75 seconds is a lot of ground covered when cruising at 150+. To me, that is .75 seconds to take cover. As always....adapt or die. I welcome the challenge. lets be clear, I am talking about PPCs & Gauss. The ACs and SRMs may sting a bit more than usual now.
Na.. its called "i can snipe Atli with my ECM ERPCC spider-5D back home"... Now, i'm not sure how useful that ERPPC will be
You know how many .75s stacked on top of each must be accounted for whenever shooting at some broken Mongolian-pinging Spider taking hits clean to chest, lighting up via animation, that take 0 damage? Or lasers doing phantom damage to nothing in particular? Better be able to have a clean in otherwise you get 1 shot. Same as before, except without them having to hit you 4x for it to actually register.
My broken Mongolian-Spider ping is ~50. HSR/Hit Detection is mostly for the higher pings. Not much seems to miss me in my spider or other lights. The lower pings do help my HSR/Hit Detection, it is more noticeable with MGs and Lasers from my experience. tl;dr Being a network analyst, I work with latency quite a bit. I am not sure what their(PGI) cutoff for latency is...250ms?, 350ms? There has to be a window or game-play will suffer if you are too generous with latency restrictions. Some players will just be SoL until regional servers.
patched right now, and now im going to test the changes... Sniper Module PIP is improved alot! ERPPCs a lot hotter!!! Highlander.Missile.Tube.Bug fixed! Gauss.Nerf is not too bad. Just needs a bit good timing. The Charge up Sound is somehow cool! Lava Damage reduced. You can now swim longer in the soup.. Missile.Bay.Light enabled now! Kintaro now Zombie.possible!
Spiders look a lot more fragile and I seem to hit a lot more lights in my 3D (2LLAS, 2MLAS, LB10X). A fellow pilot in a spider reported similarly, his impression is that more shots are connecting now. The Advanced Zoom module is greatly improved and the Gauss rifle feels like a snipers choice. I have no issues with the charge & release, on the contrary, I played a game just now in a gaussback and it felt quite ok to hang behind the lines and do supportive sniping. The few dual ppc and gauss builds I spectated these few last rounds are definantly feeling the heat increase.
Smurfy is updated with new heat changes and just about every build with a ERPPC is heat delusional now.
