So, this is a highly modified version of the "Storm Chicken" 3xERLL build (http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=7223.0). I've played it and love it, but if something gets close to me things usually don't go that well. Torso mounted weapons which produce a lot of heat don't mix well with a light circling you, even in a highly maneouverable chassis as the stormcrow. I also find infuriating to see an UAV up and being unable to shoot at it as my torso elevation is nowhere close enough to aim so high. I tried running a 3xERLL version with 2 lasers on the hands, but I think the high torso mounts are much better for sniping weapons. And again, short range heat problems meant I was in a world of hurt whenever a light decided I was a lovely target. did some tinkering here and there, and ended up running this: -Now the first and foremost question is "are you nuts? TC4? that's 4 heatsinks you're giving up!!!". Yep, it's also more than 155m range for the erSLs. And with cERLL range module 5 that's almost 900m of nominal LL range, plus extra zoom in, plus extra crit chances. This mech is a sniper first so pop up, shoot your lasers, and when hot enough, go back into cover and relocate while cooling down. TC4 trumps heatsinks in a long range flanker/sniper build like this, so I went for the TC4. -Second question would be "but you were complaining about running hot when jumped by lights! again, you're giving up cooling down potential!" Sure enough, I am. I am also bringing four rapid firing cERSLs to the fray which you can fire linked for a minute and constantly fire in a heat neutral map if you chainfire them. That's more than enough firepower and DPS to leg a light in a very short timespan, and as long as you don't shoot the ERLLs (Which you shouldn't at close range in this build), you will never overheat. Mixed with the great maneouverability of the SC and the hand actuators, you -WILL- hit that damned pesky circling light. And if he doesn't run off, all the worse for him. -"Why a cAP?" Its an item I can understand swapping for a DHS. But I find it's anti-ECM properties so useful that I'm reluctant to give it up. If I can make space for one, I run a cAP in almost all my clan builds. Feel free to swap it for a DHS if you don't think the same. -"It lacks DPS to deal with brawlers!!!!" So does the already known 3xcERLL build. And this is a sniper build. If a brawler is coming for you you are fast enough to get out of dodge well before he can even shoot his short range weapons. If he catches you then it's your situational awareness failing, not a problem of a sniper build intended for...well, sniping, and not brawling. And you still are fast enough to run away from most brawlers after engaged. Just don't stick to the fight. Weapon groups: Left click: torso mounted cERLLs Right click: Head mounted cERLL Middle click: chainfired cERSLs 4: Linked cERSLs Never fire all 3 cERLLs unless you're planning to take just one shot, run back to cover and cool down. Fire torso first, then fire the head mounted one to keep ghost heat at check.
