@russ_bullock: New Assault Mech in March

I assault mechs.

 

Devastator. 100 tons. Good mix and number of Ballistic and Energy slots. Or for the out-the-box thinker, the Ymir. 90 tons, arm-mounted Energy and Ballistic slots, plus six torso missile slots, all powered by a Standard 360 engine! Imagine a hex-Streak, LBX-toting Brawler tooling around at something like 70KPH with Speed Tweak? Light Mechs would simply wither and die at the mere sight of such a monster!

 

Devastator: 100 ton mech with good hardpoints. This is what I want.

6x SRM6, 2x AC5, 2x ERLLas.

 

Devastator doesn't come out till 3058.
I want my Hatamoto .... They will give us somthing stupid like the Imp.... you watch.

 

Kingcrab - I want it!
Cyclops - Sounds good, I guess. Seem to have good variants too.
Banshee - Fills the 95 ton gap. But the hardpoints are utter shit, unless PGI would add a few extra ones. (unplayable in stock)
Zeus - OK I guess, worry about variants.

This is what an armored Banshee looks like. The engine rating should be even higher but topspeed is still 54, and less armor obviously.

I would like a mauler too, but it has not enough variants!

 

I would hedge my bet on being a 95 ton mech.

I think it is the Banshee if timeline fits as there is enough variants to pick from also.

The Annihilator fits the timeline, though I highly doubt PGI would release a 100 toner that can mount 4 AC-10s.

 

Probable, but not guaranteed.

We have 3 35 ton light mechs,

We have 4 55 tons medium mechs,

We only have 1 75 ton heavy mech,

We have 2 80 ton assaults.

At this point I think the number of weight duplicates doesn't matter as much, but I do agree that they might fill the 90 ton void. Problem is the 90 ton area of assaults is a little bit lacking and non unique...

 

Looks like the opinion that PGI needed a 95 ton mech was right, as Grimm noted that Russ confirmed the Banshee will be coming out. Looks kinda like a big Victor.

I betting on the following variants:

BNC-3E
BNC-3S
BNC-5S

 

But you can fit in 4 AC2s, and still have plenty of slots left over for a crapton of heatsinks and ammo.

2uac5+2ac2 (or 3ac5) + 2LL sounds fun. But god, that picture shows the side torsos as big as a leg. You think atlases get their RT focused, Banshee's LT will focused down even more quickly.

I'm not complaining. It lets me continue my plan of getting all my XL300s I need.
