Alright. We've done it before, but there are (as per the usual) loads of new mechs in game! So, with my interest in trying CW again for the first time since it's introduction, I want to hear what YOU'RE dropping in? IS? Hell, yeah. Underdogs unite! Clan? Let's see that firepower! I'm going to try to get back into it today (yes, I'm just looking for stocking stuffers) I'm thinking BNC-3M, TDR-9SE, BJ-A, FS9-A for IS, or maybe dropping from my unit (not so heavily involved, more a group of buddies) and forming my own Clan unit with my brother and some friends and dropping 3x EBJs and one ACH... What's been working for you?
Wow, Aylek. You really have success with SRMs in CW? Seems the range and ammo would be difficult. From conversations I've read on Reddit and others, it seems CW favors range... What are your thoughts?
Clan: Timberwolf (Lasers), 2x Hellbringer (1xGaus and ERML, 1xMPLs) and Nova (ERPPC) or Hunchback (Lasers or Streaks) IS: See Ayleks Post^^ Also Zeus 9S and Grasshoppers (5J and 5H) do very fine for me. @SRMs: You have to boat them, so you habe enough Ammo for a longer fights and put them in a fast mech, like the Griffin or @clans in a Stormcrow or MadDog. The aim @ CW is to kill as many oponents as possible with one mech (doesn`t mather if you die, you come back ) and thats very easy with SRM @close combat - because many builds are made for long range and overheat very fast as soon as you engage them @ close range.
We really need someone to make a dropdeck calculator that is up to date. I know tonnage limit change, so make the final limit open or changable.
That was kind of my line of thinking. It's been so long since I've played CW, I'm just hoping for less 30 minute queues and seeing what other people are finding effective.
Yeah, that 2N is a f*cking monster and works great in CW. There are some maps where it's a bit worse (Boreal comes to mind here), but otherwise this thing rocks. It's not a mech for the first wave, though, but excels at cleaning up while granting ECM cover to a bunch of other medium mechs. This was an exceptional game of course (drop deck: second one I mentioned above), but the 2N accounted for 1k damage here. It was destroyed seconds after the last salvo killed a cored Ebon Jag.
Because I'm a filthy C-Bill farming merc, what about a TBR + HBR + EBJ + SCR deck? Max tonnage with no chasis duplication, so you get all Primes with CBill boost. Thinking plenty of potential there: LaserWolf, PulseBringer, DakkaJag, SRMCrow?
Exactly my current drop deck. TBR with cLPLAS + 4 cERMLas + 2 cSRM6+A, HBR with 2x cLPLas+ 2x cSRM6+A +2 cERSLas, EBJ with 2x cUAC 10 + 5 cERSLAs and SCR with the classic 5 cMPLas. DWF + SHC + NVA + ACH primes / (L) waiting to be swapped in depending on map / role.
With the current drop deck tonnage allowance I tend to go full heavy decks. (sometimes with 1 assault or medium to fill a tonnage gap) Clan side think 2 TBR plus whatever. IS side think 2-3 TDK or BL-6-KNT plus whatever. My loadouts typically focus on long to medium range withering (hence allowing those berserk SRM-pilots @Aylek to get kills ) many LPL, (er)LL and high volume dakka.
Clans 3 timbers and arctic cheater, or mix of 4 Hellbringers and Ebon Jag's. if you take anything else you are doing it not the meta way. IS Grasshoper - H variant - look at the quirks, it can do everything if it comes with lasers and is also quite XL friendly. Thunderbolts - 5S, SS, 9SE & TOP DOG. Quickdraw - 4G if i remember correctly, 911m of ER Large, beat that clanners Black Jacks - don't use them but they are really awesome, though a bit squishy. Banshee & Stalker Laser vomits.
With the new Steam sale, I was able to FINALLY get the TBRs without feeling guilty about buying $14m mechs! Got the TBR-PRIME, TBR-S, and TBR-C. I have been adoring the EBJs, and most of those builds can be rocked on the TBR with some JJs! (my Achilles heel to be without) SO! My new Clan drop deck will soon change as my newly created puff unit can break contract and switch to clans. Super excited for some Arctic Cheetahs, Ebon Jags, Timbers, and a MASC'd Shadowcat if I can fit... I never remember the shifting allowed dropdeck weights...Should be no problem to fit those four though with 2 lighter ECM mechs and two Power Throwers.
Yeah, 1xTBR, 2x EBJ, 1xSCR are a potent dropdeck. I use for myself 1xTBR, 2xHBR, 1xSCR (Aint got EBJs) and its a very nice Dropdeck. If you have EBJ and HBR, you can mix them.
Timber: Something like this (i made this fast with Smurfy, couldn`t find the right one here): EBJ: I can think of: https://www.mechspecs.com/threads/ebj-a-peaky-and-the-brain-1x-cgauss-2x-clpl-cersl-tc1.9523/ and/or https://www.mechspecs.com/threads/ebj-b-wubit-like-its-hot-8x-cmpl-tc1.9547/ (maybe a little less MPLs for better cooling) SCR: The classics: https://www.mechspecs.com/threads/scr-d-set-and-forget-5x-cssrm6-1x-cerml-cbap.7586/ or https://www.mechspecs.com/threads/scr-p-pentacle-of-wubs-5x-cmpl.7476/
For me... Starter: (TC1 for range/crits - decent mounts for the 2x ERML at range, UAC10 and ERSML for crushing up close) Or: 2x of: (Trading a DHS for an additional ton of ammo if need be) Finisher if needed: (TC1 for max potential)
