I'm working on this for a buddy, and could use some constructive criticism It's a composite of three images (The Spirit of Detroit, Joe Louis' Fist, and Tokyo with an incomplete logo design. The wording on the logo is just temporary as he hasn't decided on that yet. I just need some thoughts on composition..... overall look.....? something just isn't sitting right with me.
@Michael Baranowski, the focus of attention in your image is off. My eyes are not drawn to to the text and the logo, rather to the statues face or the globe.
@Lan Yeah, I might have to Mute the colors, and change the depth of field on that part of the statue like I did with the background... or maybe remove him altogether not really wanting to remove him though.
The color of the fist is totally off for the logo. The statue too detailed catching too much focus, and obviously that globe is way too bright. Look kinda like a cheap neon sign for the local gas station right now, with the black fist. Dim the statue and the ball ... maybe even defocus it. Focus more on the sign.
@Cpt Chattahah Thanks Chatt... thought you might like that. @enileph I tried blue and gold lighting highlights on the fist. The blue worked better, but didn't make it to this cut of the image. Originally I had the sphere muted without any glow at all.... I will probably go back to that and adjust the depth of field on the statue so he is slightly out of focus. Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it. Oh, and good to see you guys again.
An update showing an abbreviated depth of field and other tweeks original for comparison. original for comparison
Much better already. The blur takes away some of the prominence. Not sure if it will still look good, but maybe move the logo somewhat to the right. So as to enhance eye guidance?
