Trying to convince myself to replace the 300Xl with a 280 but suspect I'll barely use the mech over the oxide so struggling to persuade myself....
Why not just use a Thunderbolt-5SS for a 7 MP setup (+50% Range, -25% Heat Generation, +15% Cooldown)? That's a huge improvement over the Banshee bonuses.
I played this same build last night, it was crazy good. Especially if your chain firing it feels like you can fire of 10-12 straight ppc shots before even getting warm.
Oh I will, but the original Wubanshee still needs to be tested. The mass single heatsinks gives the Banshee an edge on heat dissipation and heat capacity. After including the quirks here are some numbers I came up with: TDR-5SS 15.37 dps 7.82 sustained dps 20.33 seconds to overheat (@max DPS) 313 damage before overheat (@max DPS) 7.69 heat per second 3.91 heat dissipation 76.8 heat capacity BNC-3M 15.75 dps 8.01 sustained dps 18.35 seconds to overheat (@max DPS) 289 damage before overheat (@max DPS) 9.71 heat per second 4.94 heat dissipation 87.6 heat capacity
It's a nice SRM brawler, high shouldermounts, 3 launchers give no ghost heat, 20% on range and cooldown makes for a nasty infighter. Add the lvl 5 range and cooldown modules for even more fun. 350+ in range for SRM's gives a whole new game. I'm thinking about dropping down to a XL300 for 3,5t more ammo, will see if the loss of 8 kph is that big a deal.
Yeah, out of the WVR-7K, SHD-2K, and the GRF-1N, the Wolverine 7K was the only one to get awesome quirks specific for this build. The SHD-2K got some energy heat help and the GRF-1N got SRM6 range, but nothing stellar. I'll be trying this build soon.
Interesting, I suppose its a playstyle thing. I just prefer the 82.2 KPH (STD engine) and +50% range MPL on the TDR over the heavier armoured 65.7 KPH (XL engine) and +7.5% range Banshee.
the stalker 3H might be the real stalker LPL boat, even not having the specific quirks, but range with no module = 411m, so around 450 with range module, which is more then enough for his brawly nature, duration is still low, who needs 0,67 sec to be lowered, and it gets the heat reduction, which is by far the most important factor in a laserboat, 4N gets cooldown 10% too, but less range and heat reduction, 5S doesn't ! I drop on desert and caustic, you need to take a lot of shots before overheat, and I don't even have endo steel, so I miss 3 (!!) potential DHS, or 2 DHS and 1 ams (maybe better, 0 free slots, and 2000 ammo now). And I still had no heat problems.
Don't get me wrong, i'm not preferring one or the other yet. Just making a comparison to what USED to be the Medium Pulse Laser king and how they were effected, side-by-side, with the quirks. TBH the Thunderbolt's range advantage alone makes it a much better choice. Other than that HUGE difference (100m range difference!), they are nearly identical.
A bit off topic, but is there anywhere in the game itself where it shows what the quirks are? It would be nice to have them in front of me when I'm refitting a mech, but I couldn't find them anywhere except the separate list they released.
And then you just need to educate me over whether to go 2 LPL/5 MPL, 3 LPL/5ML or 4 LPL route on the BNC-3M. Sadly I don't think the last one works as well with SHS...
They should be listed in-game. I'm not sure how though. I think you have to hover over the mech, or the weapon, or both... Honestly the 2x LPL and 6x MPL looks the funnest to me, however Trotil was running the 3x LPL and 5x ML to good effect even without double-basics. I imagine the 3x LPL / 5x ML has the most potential and synergy between weapons.
Confirm - they are listed if you hover over the mech in the mech bay but can't find anywhere in the outfitting area itself . But... but.... no quad LPL? *lip quivers on the verge of tears*
He's really good. MWO wouldn't be the same without him helping out. I mean it says something when he's site is so used.
