[WARNING THIS MECH REQUIRES AIMING AND TIMING] hear: So far the Orion requires some additional knowledge of the game and skills to play (over say the cataphracts). This mech isn't built correctly by PGI so it can't frontline brawl well at all (that being supposedly its intended usage in lore). You can't expect to play this like a -25 ton atlas because without max engine it's far too slow, and CT simply takes too much damage due to small side torsos. So the best thing to do is really to load it up with speed and go from there IMO... XL360 engine, in my mind, is a must for a few reasons: - 77.8 KPH More speed = harder to hit. Builds with 280-300 engines are just too slow. - Defensive torso twisting is much faster, allowing you to spread damage to your teeny tiny side torsos. Twisting is a good habit to get into generally but some mechs require it more than others, including this one. - Maneuverability. With this speed and armor you can scrap with assaults and run away if needed. - Side torsos are so small, may as well grab the XL. I've died maybe 3 times from side torso punch out, many many many times from CT. When standard variants are released, speed tweak and double basic skills will make it even more of a beast. The guns I put into 3 categories. 3xMPL (#1) LBX (#2) 2xSRM6+A (#3) 2xMPL(arms#4), all on chainfire. For the newer and perhaps less knowledgeable players out there, chainfire is a must. When you utilize chainfire you will learn to aim properly with all your weapon systems. That means more accurate shots equals more take-downs. Not to mention better heat management. Personally for me my level of satisfaction with the game in general is higher when I don't alpha everything all the time I kept Artemis because it truly does make a difference at all ranges outside pointblank with SRMs. You might be satisified with peppering the target with SRMs but I prefer pinpoint shots that actually produce kills Also it allows me to swap to other builds with LRMs when I feel like it. The LB-10x is actually very amazing right now. The fire rate is what makes it killer. My other favorite build being a slower but fun build with 2xLB-10x, 2xSSRMs, and 3xML. Notice my armor distribution. 78 front CT and only 14 in the back might sound crazy, but like I said, this mech requires some additional skills to play. Don't let anyone behind you, be wary of positioning.
You put all this effort into building these mechs, and explaining how to run them. I would love to see some screenshots of how well you do in this mech.
