You should do a simple search for 'Artemis' on the official forums. The link posted below seems to contain legit information, with even a PGI guy posting there.

Bottom line: The lock-on time for SSRMs is indeed lowered when Artemis is mounted on the mech, however this was acknowleged to be a bug by PGI. As I am not aware that there was any declaration of this being fixed, this should still work. (Ab-) use it while it lasts...

    Hail,

This is one of those releases that really makes you shake your head at PGI. They seem to be doing everything in their power to ruin anything enjoyable about this game.

I just had an Oxide on my team, dealt 1030 damage and I think he was using a 4x streak build. Pretty sick.

I already bought the Oxide, but thinking about it - what exactly sets it apart from COM-2D or RVN-3L? Is it really as devastating against opposing lights? From my experience a single Oxide is probably worse in the light hunting department than either of those or a JR7-D mounting streaks.

I thought about that as well Alyek but then I tested it out. the Oxide, at least Michael's build, runs a hell of a lot cooler than my JR7-D and keeps me in the fight much much longer. The lack of Jump Jets is a pain in the ass but all in all I believe it is better than the D and certainly out performs my COM-2D. Nothing takes the place of my 3L though LOL love my ECM Bird!

WOW. I'd like to see that screenshot.

You would need 500 ammo and very few misses.

Mmmmmmmm; well placed Arti and Airstrikes can do 200-300 damage themselves if you really REALLY get a group. Take for instance D4-D5 on Crimson Straights. If they choke up there and you drop some lead on them you can REALLY dish it out.

I am currently testing this one as a distant variant of the Grimm Streaker. This build probably doesn't fit here, but we're all in the process of optimising this mean little machine, aren't we?

The reason for the lone SRM4 is that sometimes - only sometimes - there are parts of enemy mechs which are completly stripped from armor, but your SSRMS simply hesitate to target that section. Enter targetable missiles.

The SRM4 is in the arm for 2 reasons:

-> the missile's spread isn't appropriate for targeting specific zones when mounted in the CT
-> the arms allow to aim up- or downwards much better

I think he got off a really nice arty strike while they were blobbing at the side of the caustic valley crater. Screenshot didn't work because of being fullscreen and Greenshot was playing up :(. I was the second highest damage with like 570 damage in the 4P, rest of the team had 100-250.

This is fast becoming my favourite mech. I wans't interested at the start because of no energy hardpoints, so fully relying on ammo. But I have come around.

I dropped the engine to an XL295 and went up to four tons of ammo (Mutaroc build from page 1) as I was running out of ammo in around half my matches. 800 Damage has been elusive to this point though, a fair few 780ish rounds though which is nothing to sneeze at, I still run out of ammo, but I am not sacrificing armor or speed (XL280) for another ton, so when i run out its cap warrior or decoy for me.

While I am able to solo take down an atlas. This apart from the obvious light killer role (I alpha strike lights) the beauty of this is the death by a thousand cuts. Circling something chain firing streaks while they try and blow you to bits until you either kill them, they manage to hit you with something big or you bought some time for your team to pinpoint damage the open armor. Conversely if their attention is elsewhere, unleashing on their back chain fire will net great results.

There are a few things to worry about though, and that is all the light hunters out there at the moment. Streak cats are okay because they are big and slow, but damn those Kintaro's and Oxides.

    ... Uhhh YES!

Watched him after I got NUKED by a team of HGNs, but, he didn't have any air or arty strikes in his and was only going ~140.

Added a third ton of ammo to the OP by shaving the armor a few points and downgrading to an XL295; the engine downgrade cost me 2kph but worth the extra 100 missiles.

This should allow me to punch the 1000 damage barrier more often!

I've tried so hard to not like 4x SSRM builds on the Oxide.

    But,

Man, oh, man is this one sexy. ;) I'm really diggin' the latest tweak Michael's put in place on the "Grimm Streaker". 1000-ish dmg from a light. *Sheesh* I've seen many heaver mechs not do anywhere close to this.

Michael, you accidentally added SRM ammo as the extra ton instead of SSRM ammo.

I give this 3 of 5 only because it does not feel that versatile to me. I did get decent damage with it several times, but have also ran into many games where I could just not figure out how to make it useful. I have been enjoying the 4xLRM5 build lately as an alternative. It could easily be that I have not keyed into the technique needed for the streak boat.
