Mind as well go for a XL280 for that (or even XL255 when ammo heavy with all those missiles), go KTO-18 if you want to go fast.

Welp, given the announced quirks the Oxide is likely to see - I think this is the build you'll see the most of now. I know it's where I'm heading...

The quirks are pretty ridiculous for this build. Might even bump this mech up quite a bit meta-wise.

An to be honest it makes me sad.
Maybe I just want to preserve my own little private garden, mine and other dedicated Oxide pilots', but I don't want this mech to multiply on the hands of the meta-junkies.

(not to mention it is in my opinion quite powerful enough)

It was decent before, but the D and F were simply better. Lacking laser hard points made the Oxide my least favorite owned Jenner (owning the O, F and D). Now? Well, I might pilot it a little more at least.

I strongly disagree, it is much more than decent. It's just not a mech you master in a week, and it also fits a different playstyle than the other Jenners, which can be confusing at first. But if I had to pick one and only one mech it would be the Oxide, even over the JR7-F.
Of course it has its downsides, but that's not that big a deal once you're used to it and nothing compared to the good points: for example it is already the jenner with the best damage output (compared to the -F: approx +50% in maximum DPS and +67% in sustainable DPS!), which is extremely valuable on brawling bigger targets as well as duelling other lights.

Yep. The one thing which the other Jenners have up on the Oxide is the ability to load JJs . . . but for the SRM4 build, there isn't really enough tonnage for them anyway; and since this thing is usually facing Assaults and Heavies more than it is other Lights, the lack of JJs seems less noticable than otherwise.

    Simply a beast! ;)

Already a very strong mech - played it for several rounds myself yesterday - those quirks will push this thing even further for sure.

Epikt what keys are you using with that paired SRM 4's then an alpha?

Don't know about epikt (though I suppose his videos would show it ;)); but for myself, here's how I set it up:
    • M1: Both Arm-Mounted SRM4s (for Arm-Actuator use, and for poking with the higher arm-mounts)
    • M2: Both Torso-Mounted SRM4s (for tight weapon-convergence when it's too hot to fire more than 2, and when I don't need the height of the arms or the Arm Actuator)
    • M3: Alpha All SRM4s (my most-used firing key when piloting this 'Mech)
    • M4: Chain-Fire All SRM4s (for when it gets really hot, so I can single-tap to fire a single SRM4; or to screen-shake the enemy)

What's that M3 group good for? Simply press M1 and M2 simultaneously, no?

    • M1: Arm-mounted.
    • M2: Torso-mounted.
That's about it and 95% of the time I press both keys together. I'm shooting arms only at higher/lower targets or for heat management reason.
I know some pilots like to chain fire but I don't think the cockpit shake disruption is worth the damage dispersion.
By the way, there is indeed a heat penalty for shooting 4 SRM4s together but it's fairly negligible (0.9 on top of 12, that's only +7.5%) and you shouldn't worry about it except if you're planning to stand a sustained engagement on Terra Therma.

Hrm, I had a similar setup to Falconium, but I think I could be convinced that a two-button setup would work. I guess I'll have to take it out for a spin to find out.

@ Aylek --- It's true you can simply fire both M1 and M2 keys for an alpha, instead of having a separate weapon group for that. But besides the (very low) possibility that the shots will be fired slightly off-time, making them spread more; I also generally have SRMs on M3 for ALL my 'Mechs, not just this one. So it's the key I am personally accustomed to using for SRMs. Not really any other explanation.

And regarding chain-fire, as epikt said, it's rarely a good idea to chain fire, as it simply spreads your shots and lowers your DPS (lower initial alpha does affect DPS). I have it there simply to use the extra M4 rather than leaving it empty. I hardly ever use it, but it seems pointless to not have it assigned. ;)

The value of chain firing depends on your playstyle. I use chain fire a lot on my srm stormcrow and timberwolf as I play very aggressively on point circling my target and they rarely damage me significantly. From peoples reactions when I'm circling them the intimidation effect forces a reaction - usually to back off . I switch between volley and chain depending on the situation. Also if I'm in a lance I circle them pounding away while the rest of my lance blaps them - either concentrate on them or my 4 erml and 6 srm 4 (or whatever). Pick your poison.
