I think this is better. Kitfoxes, with their speed and without ECM, can only be described as moving targets. Presumed that, with the adition of fitted JumpJets, one DHS gonna be moved, or completely erased, cause makes no sense to have just 1 empty slot with 1 hardpoint there, so imagine part of the right moved to left.
My humble opinion, but not using jets on a JJ-capable chassis is a waste.
LB20+4SRM6
Even now you can't mount the LB20X on the torso, so you have to use the -C arm. On the torso, even with fixed jump jets you have 5 open slots, don't tell me you can't mount 2 SRM6s there. edit: hum, ok, I see what you meant. Absolutely nothing to do with being splat or anything, it's just that you're already short on tonnage and were happy to be able to remove JJs.
Yes but i could barely fit the boomstick + 4 launchers and the mediums with the ammo and a single JJ. And i need the two side torsos. With the loss of 3 tons i have to dig in my ammo.
Missing weapon modules are being added Oct. 7th apparently http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/173077-october-road-map-feedback/page__view__findpost__p__3773802
Wonder if they'll sort the range bugs on some of them, e.g. the IS SRM 6 range modules give +30m for 300m and the Clan get +18.9 for 289m.
Updated but table of all the tiers doesn't copy well for me so just a link: http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/173062-october-road-map/page__view__findpost__p__3776433 Whoever the competitive players are they relied on for these list really didn't rate LRM's as some superb LRM mechs in tiers 4-5.
The caveat about quirks being 'flushed' prepared me for seeing Hunchies, Centurions, Victors, Awesomes, and Dragons where they are, but I'm pretty surprised at the exclusivity of certain tiers. For those who don't know what I'm talking about: -Until you hit T5, the light list looks 'normal', in that there are 2 T1, 2 T2, a bulk of T3, and only three outliers in T4...then there's a T5 list nearly as big as the T3 list. Screw the bell curve, apparantly a lot of lights just suck. -There are NO medium mechs considered T1 -The T2 Medium list is almost elusively a list of SHD variants, with some guest appearances by GRF peeking in. That the SHD are considered universally the same meta with no spread, and that most mediums outright occupy T4 is a surprise -The heavy lists are probably where a lot of people expected...except there is only one heavy listed as T1, which Jaeger is a T2 may or may not surprise a lot of people, and the rest of the Catas and Jaegers are considered T3. Cue arguments about averages. -The assault tiering looks the closest to normalized until you notice that like T2 for Mediums being the Shadowhawk club, T1 is the Victor club. With a few floating exceptions, all variants of a mech are collected in the same tier...hardpoints etc. simply don't matter. AWS-8R being T3 instead of its T5 less-Awesome brethren, the HGN-733C and the ECM-capable AS7-D-DC a cut above, and Stalkers being split evenly between the second and fourth tiers being notable exceptions. While I think they're definitely on the right track with this, I'm REALLY curious where they're getting their data from and how much they are accounting for player skill-cap. I suppose this IS mostly good news, since it means a perk pass should be a big honkin list of mech customization to reflect differences in lore and performance expectations, but wowzer.
I would object to a looooooooooooooooooooooot of things in that list. Specially so the Heavy category where I think -all- the JMs should be tier 1 and that the Muromets should be up there too. Reason? anything able to mount dual gausses (in a worthwhile configuration with a decent ammo load and reasonable speed) doesn't need any buffs whatsoever. And I won't even enter into the chainsaw UAC5 configurations... Those things are powerful as they are, no quirks needed. Also, I'm supremely suprised about the Awesome. Seriously in it's current state is my favorite assault, and while I won't complain if they get even more buffs, the end result might be over the top. Tier 5 quality?...My 8Q can shoot four ERLLs (Staggered, of course) almost all day long, and have some serious short range punch with some MPLs on top of it. My 9M is the only mech I'm bothered with running two PPCs and a ERPPC at the same time...and still has the MPL battery for short range fighting...and I rarely overheat on them! (and I tend to overheat too much, is one of the skills I need honing the most). They're very agile for an assault mech (specially so the 9M), they have insane cooling down, they're AMAZING!. Sure, the Awesome's not a direwhale and is not a damage tank, but no 80 tonner should be expected to tank as a 100 tonner as an atlas. That an assault has a bad name attached to it doesn't mean it's bad...in fact I think the Awesome is a top class assault it just can't tank damage and people think it's too fragile. Well, it's actually not...if you use them as long range specialists where you can deal a crapton of damage while the return fire is way weaker in most cases (specially if you don't use XL engines on the ones that aren't worth it. Spreading damage is easy, the 9M being the only one where XL engines should be used and having problems with losing a torso) I just think people in this game are too possessed by the "brawling spirit" in which whatever can't brawl then it's bad. Sure, an Awesome won't ever brawl as a 4 SRM6 6ML Stalker will ever do, but...that doesn't mean is a bad mech. And that's present across the list of mechs. Tier 1 Mediums: none. Tier 2: all of them are (mostly) seen running on the battlefield as brawlers. Tier 1 assault: Victor (brawing specialist model). People, IMO, should stop thinking that running towards the nearest mech to splat them under SRM fire is the best way to have fun. Sure, it's fun and I giggle as anyone else whem I put a 24 SRM+artemis shot on someone, but that doesn't close my eyes to the many other ways to play a mech. Skirmisher. Sniper. Flanker. Hilly terrain specialist. Etc. It's sad to see that the majority of the playerbase doesn't see it this way. I really don't want MWO to shift towards a brawling-based game where other roles/configurations are subpar...
This is why I was surprised with that tiering as well. As for the AWS, you seem to have missed that the baseline they're using is WITHOUT the current quriks. No bonus torso armor, no bonus heat management, the reason they gave it those quirks in the first place. PGI seems to be doing this to assess where to go BEYOND those perks without being bound to them. They could very well win up using the same perks again, but considering the mech in a perkless environment lets them do internal balancing and quirk decisions more freely. I expect the new AWS will be even more awesome than the current crop. I'm also hoping for some Centurion love and a real re-work of the shield arm into, well, a shield!
Im not surprised. SHD when released were the top medium mechs, right now they're ok at most. IMO playing a medium except for the Stormcrow and certain SHD/GRF builds is a waste of tonnage as it is right now. I don't agree with the Jagers as well. I think they're all at least second tier mechs. You can still wreck in them. CTF are a bit worse off with low slung ballistics, but IM is definitely still a second tier mech. Why is the RVN-3L in second tier though?
I'd disagree with that, mainly because I've done so well with my CDA-3M...it's one of my more consistently dangerous mechs, even post-Clantech. I'd rate the 3M at least at T2, it's far superior to the 2A. Although, at T3, it'll get quirks sooner and be even more powerful so...hmm... However, I highly agree with your other statement: why is RVN-3L not a T1 mech? While not as damaging as the Jenners or Firestarters, it is extremely versatile (even without JJs), and a superior support chassis...
Well in fairness if you look at the list (with all quirks stripped) from a pure competitive viewpoint it makes sense. They're balancing from a top down perspective. Its an age old argument as to whether you balance for the majority of the playerbase or the top 1%. Most FPS games do it top down. Technically thats not bad as it allows those of us that play seriously but aren't in that 1% to find a niche that works really well for us in the less competitive scene. Lets be honest some weapon system, mechs and builds work vastly better solo, small lance, large group or 12 man. Quid pro quo they're far less effective in others. That Cicada 3M is a good example as in a 12 man you're not comparing a 3M to a light but to a Stormcrow, Griffin or Shadowhawk in most tactical applications. Solo or small group you'd absolutely be sticking to the lights tactically but have no choice in your company make up so build around a more individual play style. Personally I'm looking forwards to the massive revamp to my Hunchbacks.
For the same reason that the Spider 5D with it's buggy hitboxes and supreme longevity is at tier 3, I guess...
