Its back post quirks with 10% heat gen that really helps in the group queue. ;)

Its awful in the solo queue as its wall to wall King Crabs and everyone seems to be fighting them solo. You push and everyone hides, etc.

Looks like a petty good build but would it not improve with MPLs&SPLs??

Because it actually doesn't improve, SLAS weight 0,5t, and it's the only way you can boat this much DHS too, and this mech is too frail and slow to use SPL, too few free weight to use MPL (SCR does both better, if there's a reason to use nova is this build).

Supercool version, drops MGs to have 24 DHS, prime torsi give better torso mobility too.

If just this mech had decent hitboxes and the arms weren't hitting the ground...

That's probably a drawback most people don't recognize, really low hanging arms on most clan mechs. Think you're clear of a hill or side of the building and fire... step back behind cover, embarrassed. And some maps, like HPG, are extra frustrating due to the walls and hills having really annoyingly random hitboxes.

I actually don't find that an issue at all as you're so close to your target if you're using MG's, but I only play this in a group as its so clumsy it can't (IMO) really solo. As a finisher in a group its insane, particularly as people prioritise those BIG mechs around you....

    5/5,
Went face against a fresh direwolf and melted him in seconds. I run a TC1 instead of the second ton of MG ammo on mine. 5/5 for sure

    5/5,
I can't say enough good things about this setup. Leveling my Prime was a dream using it. Even with no exp or modules to back it up it rips through people. I consistently kill 5 or 6 times my tonnage with this.

The saddest part about the Nova is that it's SO powerful and so precise, you often kill to fast to get very high damage. I feel like I'm missing lot on c-bills even with 4-5b kills. Then again, first world problems, eh?

If you drop the MG you can have TC1, Extra DHS, lower arm, and even an SRM4?

Forget the SRM, at close range you'll rely only on the lasers, for the surgeon precision. And a torso mounted weapon will only lose you the benefit of those amazingly nimble arms (same goes for the MGs, I really think it harms the build, and that's much better without them).
But I tested this mech with an LRM10 (only 1 ton of ammo) I was shooting while I was closing on targets, it worked nicely enough, especially if you're looking to score assists.

I have a different opinion about the Nova - it is a very difficult Mech for most Maps. Indeed the strongest loadouts include a multibeam setup, which is very hot and require a direct line of sight. For this the Nova simply doesn't have the toughness to survive more than 1 intense CQC Brawl. Instead it really depends on the Teamplay to get some pretty wounded enemy to get the fast kills. Otherwise you get shot dead before you can get in optimal attack range. With a ERSLas only build you are forced to get into CQC. Mapwise either you have a could map, but open fields. Or Maps with many obstacles to play Ninja but then you have difficult Heat Management.

I myself got this Chassis (4 Variants) all "mastered", but it was really tough. The 12 ERSLas build didn't work for me. So as i can remember i could get solid scores with 4ERMLas + 8ERSLas.

I run a version with TC 1 and one ton of ammo, which I find to be plenty. it's a trade-off between using those amazing arm actuators and using the MGs of course, but there have been plenty of situations where I was grateful for having them.

@Blagg Zear, I've found that, on most maps, I can get into range quite easily, eventually. The obvious exceptions are of course Polar Highlands, and sometimes Alpine Peaks, though i've rarely dropped on the latter lately. And while it could do with a bit more toughness (I tend to lose side torsos fairly quickly), it works quite well for me. I've had multiple cases of dropping below 25% HP without losing a component, as well as getting kills with a side torso missing.
Then again, all that may be due to me facing lower-tier enemies (I'm in tier 3 currently) rather than any attribute of the mech itself.

Is there a reason for using the Prime CT for this build over any of the others? For example, while lacking the 5% reduction in overheat damage, the -B CT has 15% accel/decel compared to 10% on the -P, the same turn rate of 10%, and the -B also has a 9° torso turn angle bonus. Is it a matter of personal preference, or perhaps quirks have changed, or something else I've missed?

I am planning to buy Novas in the near future and plan to use a version of this build, a PPC poptart, and I'm still trying to decide what the third build will be, but I need to figure out which chassis will serve me best.

Best quirk on the -Prime is + 30% C-Bill boost for those players who own it. Other than that the other CTs are obviously superior.
