Fellow MechWarriors, Our new ratings engine is being deployed today... There are a few kinks that are being worked out and a few feature sets that are being adjusted as we put them through the testing stages. All the old build ratings have been wiped out as that old script was causing massive server log errors as people were trying to sort via ratings. Some of the features of the new ratings engine are as follows.... - Rating a build requires a *comment and you can not post the rating until you reach it (25 char minimum) - Allows you to delete your rating if you want to change it or update it as the build becomes better/worse - Allows you to sort thread listings by **ratings. This was a huge drawback to the old script. - Engine sends a notification to the author that you have rated their build. Provides feedback - Ratings go down to the half star level. This aids in the accuracy for general consensus of a build The developer is the one we will be using going forward so, as we go through iterative changes with this specific ratings engine, we won't lose any of the ratings. * Comments will also automatically make a post in the thread you are rating. It will then display the rating beside your post. This allows easier visibility of who voted what. Anonymous ratings are for Space Pimps only. This may cause double notifications to the author of the thread (one that someone has rated it and one that someone has commented in it if; assuming you are actively watching the thread). ** Ratings are weighted by both the number of times a thread has been rated and by rating level. Nobody wants a 5 star build at the top when it has been rated 1 time. This will help further separate the wheat from the chaff as the better builds will rise to the top.
