   Yeah, I think the counter is broken. Showing only 13 topics, when the red says 47 new posts... unless its counting the posts inside the topic...

   It counts EVERY single post... also, I have it set on a 5 minute delay so that it doesn't chew up bandwidth and server resources. That little plugin does a lot of damage on servers LOL
   
   This is more for people that are looking to log in and see what they have going on rather than those who are mashing the F5 button.
   
   Also, it says NEW POSTS and not NEW TOPICS
