So I get some time to do some serious gaming this weekend... finally. I sit down at the computer I haven't used myself for weeks and boot up MWO. Start tweeking the config on my 3D and my, relativly new, Sharkoon Black gaming mouse starts to act up, and then drops out completely. Pissed off, I go to unplug the mouse, and notice that one of the wifes new kittens has chewed through the cord. No Mechwarrior for Mike, and now I have to fix my less than new mouse Whatever! Good thing is, I discovered a new beer this weekend. New Holland Dragons Milk
Seeing as this got bumped I thought I would mention, the latest Logitech gaming mice.... are utter utter shiet. Extremely uncomfortable. That is all.
So I replaced the cord on my mouse that my cat so graciously chewed through. plugged it in, and let windoze go through its USB routine.... toast. the usb chip is there, but windows isn't recognizing the mouse as a mouse... Thankyou kitty. New mouse for Mike.
Picked up a Roccat Kone+ last night at MicroCenter for $29.... Haven't used it yet, but looks promising.
Hey guys. On the subject of gaming mice, have any of you had any experience with the Steelseries Diablo 3 ROS mouse? I can get that or Razer Deathadder for the same price here, just not sure if one is significantly better than the other. I know the Diablo mouse has an additional 2 buttons but I get the feeling they may be harder to reach with thumb/pinkie than the buttons on the Razer. Anyone able to offer any advice?
I use a Steelseries WoW Legendary. I started out loving it, however, I would not recommend it. While they look great, the programming software does not work with MWO. Moreover, I now have a bug where whenever I use my scroll-wheel button, my mech twists all the way to the left and aims at my feet very quickly, rendering that center button unusable. I have tried all troubleshooting/drivers/uninstall and reinstall, however, my mouse is now out of warranty and I miss my Razer. I need to just get off my lazy ass and get another one.
i myself dont use a gaming mouse, they are usually way too uncomfortable for me i have pretty big hands, so either the hand lies too low compared to fingers (which happens to me on a razor) or my i only have my fingers on the mous but not the hand itself so i myself use the logitech m500 which is a bit longer than many mouses and to be honest more than 4(5) buttons are too much for me PS: i don't know if said yet, but anyone using wireless mouse for gaming, try a corded one, the reaction time is so much better
Just my $.02, but I splurged and picked up the Logitech G600 mouse a while back, and I've been very happy with it...I play a lot of games, but I love it for MWO just because of how easy it is to hit all 6 weapon groups on my mouse at any given time...plus I routed the airstrike/arty/UAV/cool shot triggers to it as well. Fits very nicely in my hand (like Thiak, I have pretty big hands, I'm a tall guy ) and with 3 mouse buttons and a scroll wheel, you can do quite a bit with the bindings. Would shoot with it again.
Sadly this image is missing the two buttons on the side but here is how I rig it (for Profile #1). Remember, I'm a Raven pilot so my rig is set up specifically for that machine. Button B: Group fire of my 2x ERLLas Button C: PTT Button (TS3). I don't think MWO can work zoom with the forward and back wheel Button D: Individual fire on my 2x ERLLas in case things get hot and I want to keep up the fire but reduce the heat Button E: My zoom button. Click Click = max zoom. Another click takes me back to regular view Button F: Nothing. That changes the DPI but I rarely use it Button G: Artillery Button H: Airstrike Button I: Cool Shot or UAV (yes, I have it set to do both depending on what I am carrying) Boom, my SuperChicken mouse set. This mouse is actually really cool. The only thing I wish they would fix is their macro software doesn't allow you to run a repeating macro. Several people have already written in to suggest this feature and they said "Maybe in future versions but we have no idea when that will be".
In the same vein: Key: A, B, C: Weapon groups 1-3 D: Zoom (normal, not Advanced Zoom) E: DPI Shift between 200 and 1000, 200 is used for fine aiming with Advanced Zoom F, G, H: Weapon groups 4-6 I: Artillery J: Airstrike K: UAV L: Cool Shot I keep my Advanced Zoom button on the keyboard since I'm so used to it being there, but almost everything else is controlled by my right hand. The G9-11 buttons are also weapon group 1-3, but I don't use those as much. Fair warning, when I got this mouse, I had to get used to something new on it: not squeezing the damn thing! Can't tell you how many times I accidentally fired a round or switched weapons in a normal shooter because I hit a button on the side of that thing... Edit: Forgot to mention, the "G15" button between F and I is my PTT button for vent/ts3/mumble.
That mouse has a bloody keyboard of its own :x I use the same mouse as Michael: Mouse: B: Weapon group 1 (left, or standard brawling weapons) C: Thermal/Night vision with scroll, Also a secondary DPI switch left/right because the other one is a bit far down to reach, and I like adjusting DPI for sniping) D: Weapon group 2 (right, big weapon that needs aiming, or chainfired weapons that have alpha on weapon group 3) E: Zoom G: Override H: Missile bay doors (I like using the +10% armor strength when closed) I: Weapon group 6 macro (for UACs). Keyboard: 1: Arty 2: Air (don't need these buttons for weapon groups) 3: Weapon group 3 (Torso, really heavy overheating alpha stuff that I shouldn't use too often) 4: Weapon group 4 (LRMs or something with even crazier heat) V: UAV F: Coolshot C: Night Vision And that makes basically everything easily accessible.
I use this mouse (A4 XL-760H) : It fits my hand and feels really comfortable. I also got its gaming pad even tho I don't think it really matters. It doesn't have many buttons but they are fully customizable, I don't need more then 4 anyway as I use the keyboard more. Goes up to 3600 DPI but I don't really need more as 3600 is usually too fast anyway, unless I'm piloting a 150km/h+ mech, and I still usually go a bit lower, like 2800.
Time to start hunting for a new mouse after the Drakonia Black mouse wheel just suddenly gave up on me. It was comfortable and the buttons were really well sited but I've never been 100% happy with it as the programming seemed to throw several of the games I use totally off.
Go with a Razer. I have the Hex, and it works great for me. It's software is top tier, and lets you do macros with it!
