I'm cheap.. so i go for the Fireglider. I'm completely content.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWBz6dslkM4
It looks that way because you can adjust it to match the length of your hand, your grip and your thumb position. It's the only mouse I know that you can actually adjust to the size of your hand. It has an aluminium metal frame, so it isn't fragile either. It does look like something from the movie Screamers tho
Wow, That looks really awesome, especially for that price (€23). It would've made my new mouse purchase a helluva lot harder if I had known this mouse existed xD
yes, price/performance ratio is really really fantastic. Believe me, that Mouse is epic. I use it over a yr and no problem at all. Very precise.
Ordered the Fireglider as recommended by Blagg for testing purposes. Christmas time usually makes it hard to spend money on things like this, but the problems with my MX510 are getting worse from day to day.
Need? no, but I'm used to 5 more buttons (if we're counting the scroll up and scroll down as "buttons"). There is no way i'd be able to do everything I would like to without at least 3 more buttons. But that is just me and my preference.
There is the tale this magical mysterious artifact... some call it a keyboard. I know for one that the legend is true and that this item does exist! I'm not sure why you'd want to find your way around a mouse with 13 buttons while you can do it cockpit simulator style with a lot of buttons on a keyboard, that always gives me a great feel as if I'm really piloting something 'complicated'. A few more buttons for macros and a DPI switch is nice. For the rest there's more than enough keys besides the trusty WASD.
What if I told you I use a Razer Nostromo, and I actively use all of those buttons as well? 1 Scoreboard 2 Map Grid 3 Accelerate 4 ECM mode 5 UAV 6 Weapon Group 3 7 Turn Left 8 Decelerate/reverse 9 Turn Right 10 Cool Shot 11 Arm Lock 12 Missile Doors 13 Power Down 14 Toggle 3rd person 15 Alpha Strike Thumb Weapon group 4 Scroll Up weapon group 5 Scroll Down weapon group 6 Scroll press change entire button allocation (I have several that i'm not going to list) D-up Zero accel/decel (all-stop) D-down Jump Jets D-fwd Center legs D-back Center torso
That is what I currently use and this damn thing has lasted through a ton of stuff! Several moves, several computers, a 7 year old as he grew up, tons of girlfriends and an on again off again wife. The Logitech MX518 is damn near indestructible. When it does crap out though? Razor Death Adder for me (maybe)
I hate my Razer Taipin. The stupid thing needs to be unplugged and plugged back in after a cold boot to work. No matter what Ive done I cant get it to work. The mouse itself isnt bad, good grip and weight plus 7 buttons and on the fly sensitivity adjustments. I would never recommend one tho, because of the shitty software Razer uses.
As Blagg already reported, the Fireglider is a fantastic mouse at a very low budget. I am still after that RAT Mk V, but the Fireglider does heavy duty at the moment and works very well.
