New Map... 23rd Sept

Did anyone see anything about this as its totally slipped past me in all the excitement over the anniversary and experimenting with Locust's.

I'm presuming it is the mech factory but I thought that wasn't ready yet.

 

Did you really expect that we will only get new shiny machines? You fool!
Factory was 90% finished during the public test, so I guess it will be that. Swamp is still not ready for release.

 

aw yis. I'll be outfitting my Cicada-3M with a gauss rifle for the chance to troll on this map.

Hope they spent the last few weeks fixing stuck location bugs. They were EVERYWHERE during the PTS. Wasn't a single game when there weren't at least 2 mechs stuck.

 

That was sort of the point of a live PTS test wasn't it.

 

New map is called the "Mining Collective" according to Russ on Twitter.

 

I'm confused by that tweet as 'mining' has nothing to do with the mech factory (or industrial or whatever you want to name it). Mining sounds like reusing terra therma assets which mech factory is definitely not.

Maybe a 3rd map they're working on after industrial and swamp?

As a mining engineering major in school, I can say that that map in no way relates to any mining operation I've ever seen. Industrial yes, mining no. Stupid name. Call it a mech weapons manufacturing facility then. That probably makes more sense than a mech factory anyway as those were pretty rare in lore.

game needs like, two dozen more maps to give it some sort of immersion for CW.

 

i'm pretty sure we haven't run out of English language words to describe a map that we need to blatantly use something stupid to describe it that's wrong...

At first I was thinking ... huh????

But I can sort of see it thinking back to PTS tbh.

Like Soy I just want a lot more maps so the name doesn't really bother me tbh.

The new map will be a killer with all those C-Bill direwhales in those close quarters.

 

Don't forget the Splatures (SRM Vultures).
