Consider the tonnage then the model, if it is a 4 energy build then it is inferior to K2 unless JJ. If it is a 6 energy build then chances are 2 energy hardpoints are at CT, so it is not that much better than K2, as the best you can do is another 2x MLas.
i totally agree with you. In my eyes the Jester is not really superior, rather limits of the versatility in possible builds. Either PPC.Sniper with some Backuplasers, or full Laserboat. Meeeh. If PGI doesnt give us JJs i don't see a reason to spend real money for it. If it only had something really special, like 2x Ballistic + 2x Missiles in the Arms and 2x Energy in the Torso, or 2x Ballistic in Arms plus 4x Energy in Torso.
If the Jester don't come with a pogo stick I won't be buying it. It won't be different enough from a K2 and not near as versatile.
Why would it be P2W? How would it make it any different than then Firebrand? What I would like is 7E slots. 2 Arms, 2 side torsos, 1 centre. Also JJs and turn rate. I'd love to try to make a Charger out of it.
It is still speculation, but if that's the case it might be OP. Still, and All Energy K2 still feels OP even with out JJ.
That's a firebrand with 2 less ballistics. Why would it be OP?
Still hoping 4x JJ, 6x Energy and Max Engine 340. May actually pry my wallet open. Basically a C1 w/ 2 extra energy and a smaller profile. I think that would be a good balance/addition to the Catapult family. Not overpowered, but, different enough to earn it's own place.
That's a Firebrand (max engine 340 too) that exchanged it's the ballistics for JJs. Seems wasteful to have 2 hero mechs that are so similar
For those who want 6 energy with JJ, We already have a non-hero mech with JJ that has 5 energy 2 missile. For those who think about 6 energy w/o JJ, we have one heavy with 7 energy 1 missile. Thunderbolts.
Just noticed, the only heavy mech that has 6 energy hard points is the QKD-4K the Firebrand counts, but it's a Premium mech. As for 7 energy hardpoints, only the AWS-8Q and the BLR have 7, but no JJ.
Vergere, the TDR-5SS also has 7 Energy hardpoints. I truthfully hadn't noticed this since I've been focusing on the Locusts and Battlemasters, but Blagg posted a 7 MPLas version in a Battlemater thread, which I had to try out. http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=4323.0 This is true, but the beauty of the K2 (and presumably the Jester), is that the energy mounts in the arms aren't just high, they are above the head, so you can shoot enemies you don't actually even have line of sight on. Add in the ability to jump, and you have something really special.
Jump Jets vs Ballistics make for ENTIRELY different mechs. Think I've talked myself out of the Jester - at least at the non-sale price. You're having to split hairs contrasting the Jester with the TBolt 9SE or QKD-5K (neither mech that I enjoy very much) that it seems like a waste of MC.
I'm still wondering why pgi decided to introduce a self-made Hero-Mech while there was already a known Hero-Mech for the Catapult:
This would have been a much more interesting Mech, but which would obsolete the standard C1 completely.
