RIP, IS Jenner. RIP. - IIC standard will obsolete the Oxide. - IIC-2 obsoletes the K - IIC-3, the D - IIC-A will obsolete the F. Unless there are some serious negative quirks, *or* some serious quirk boosts to the IS Jenner.
Pretty much that. Even if the IS Jenners get some good quirks or IIC's get neg quirks, it won't matter. The IIC-A, for instance, can still run the stock loadout and be superior to the JR7-F in every way but MLas range...with 6 SPLs and a stock XL 315, it has heavy DPS, and will be faster than the Firestarter, Raven, and Jenner with Speed Tweak, all while being able to mount more JJs than those mechs generally take. Or it can drop them for some more DHS and be even better at DPS while infighting. A lot of people are already calling the Jenner IIC the new light meta. Naturally, I already preordered mine Additional thoughts: HBK-IIC: Missed opportunity not having the IIC-4, which was an ECM model. Good variation on hardpoints though; one energy boat, one missile brawler or LRM platform, one ballistic boat, and the early adopter will likely feature a lot of Dual Gauss/AC20 builds. Looks solid, and clan XL will help it a lot. ON1-IIC: Noticed right away that two variants have STD engines, so that's nice. Not much variation in the hardpoint options, which is disappointing, but you'll be able to do several good builds with them. HGN-IIC: Again, mix of standard and XL on the stock builds, but clan XL means it's less dangerous here. Decent variation on the hardpoints (but nowhere near as good as the HBK), should accommodate a variety of builds. Overall: They all look solid, and clantech will be nice...but they all have a good chance that they will obsolete their IS versions, barring quirk passes on those mechs. Each of these honestly seems superior to the IS version in just about every respect.
Extremely solid, I was looking at the HBK-IIC and ON1-IIC loadouts, they look insane in terms of how much free space they they have. HBK has some of the most versatile hardpoints, but will lack speed to be a really good medium. The Orion will be a tad slow, for it's weight, but with the amount of free space it will have, it should be capable of tons of damage.
Nice mechs. Not so nice to get another mech package this soon. PGI has really stepped up the mech output. Will consider this, been buying every pack so the extras aren't too tantalizing.
I've been a big fan of the IIc mechs since they were introduced. Both Orion and HGN look impressive firepower wise, but will be very slow. Same is true for the Hunchback, but that one at least fills a nice spot for me weight wise on the Clan side (as I don't own any Novas). Jenner IIc is a given for me, so at the moment I am considering the Jenner + Hunchback package.
Only a few seconds before I get the Jenner IIC... then some hours before I get the packages. That dome head. What a classic Jenner would look like.
You can change engines, but they use Clan XLs. You can change weapons and equipment, but they use clantech (cAP, cAMS, ceverything). Weapon hardpoints themselves are fixed, because these are not Omni-tech and won't have omnipods. Because of no omni-pods, also looks like NO fixed tech (JJs, heatsinks, etc.). Do we know if we'll be able to swap Endo/Ferro on these? Also curious if swappable engines will create a new type in game (Clan XL) or if dropping a regular XL will just auto-utilize the correct tech (three slots in each torso for IS, two for Clan). Ridonkulus and good mix of hardpoint choices to keep any of them from being too similar. But yeah, outside of CW restrictions, these obsolete certain variants pretty hardcore.
You can be sure that there will be separate engines for Clan vs IS. Gotta drain those c-bills somehow.
the concept art on these mechs is really good. Especially the Highlander, with it's head. I REALLY want the Jenner, but I wouldn't mind the Highlander, or Hunchback. The only odd one for me is the Orion, but I feel it will hit over it's weight class in game.
I think that the Orion will be used rarely at best. It's competing with the Timber Wolf in every way. ...mind you, I'm thinking of picking it up to try the chassis out before picking up the IS version. But that's neither here nor there.
