Hi all, not sure if this is the correct forum for this, but here goes: My MWO crashes, but only while "connecting" to a live multi-player match. I can get into the proving grounds, mechlab, etc, no problem. While the game is crashing, it knocks out my internet, as I am able to tab out and get into chrome, but can't connect to any web pages. It seems like this crash started happening after I installed Shadowrun Returns. I have tried: Uninstalling and reinstalling. The MWO repair tool. Deleting my config file. Deleting the shader file. Anyway, this is getting a little frustrating. If any of you have any ideas, I'd be happy to hear them.
You should bring it to the official forum. But I would think uninstall/reinstall the game, and it might help a bit. But yeah, error during connecting is common.
i doesnt look like mwo is the problem as you describe it what windows version are you running? do you regularly run windows updates? do you have an up to date antivirus? give some more details and like enileph suggests, send a ticket to mwo support, make sure you run dxdiag and include it in your mail
^^ While I'm no computer expert, there may possibly be something fishy with your antivirus/firewall? Perhaps your permissions/settings were reset or messed with when you installed Shadowrun? I suppose if you want to see if that's the real cause (and lose shadowrun temporarily) you could perform a System Restore from right before you installed Shadowrun. That way your computer should be more or less what it was beforehand. If the game works, well, Shadowrun did something to it, if it doesn't, then it's something else. At the very least it can tell you one thing it isn't, and at the best, it fixes the MWO problem! I've had issues like that happen before with other games, where it would crash at random points. Update: was able to log in and play yesterday around 11 a.m. central time to around 3. I logged off, then logged back in around 7 or 8, and....same error. So, I'm at around 3 hours played in 3 weeks. While this has probably been good for my marriage and general well-being, I'm still pissed that I'm unable to play this game I've paid, oh, I don't know, hundreds of dollars for. I think at this point I can safely say it isn't my system, because literally nothing changed from early Saturday to Saturday evening.
You're not alone, a few folks in my clan are getting the same error. There has been mention in the twitter feeds that they are apparently looking at the problem.
So, all is now well. All I needed to do was simply reinstall windows. And because mechwarrior was literally the only thing that didn't work, I'm going to guess that there was a corrupted registry entry or two that was the culprit. I'm still going to blame PGI for that though.
Had the issue again today. Played this morning, then tonight it wouldn't connect. The only change I had made was plugging in my X-box one controller to use for SC. Unplugged controller, MWO launches normally.
