@Durandal, yeh I can understand the LRM vomit builds. But front line assaults seem to be running XLs simply to keep up, even in 12 mans. I have dropped Battlemasters, Banshees, an Atlas, Stalkers (but I there seem to be a lot of good xl builds floating around for them). Just seems a bit odd to me.

If one side zergs with pre-planned mechs its easy to get sub 1,000 damage. Same with if everyone is focus firing or if there's a particular group doing that and gobbling up all the kills. For a graphic example:

Our side raped them and played like pro's despite being one two man group and ten solo players. I mean we pushed them down certain routes while raining hell on them. Literally channeled them through the passage while shooting down on them...

For those with a historical bent it was more like a punishment than a battle:

Those that survived the gauntlet we shot in the back....

Coincidentally that's also the sort of game to permanently put people off CW....

Thats why I got disgusted with it the first week of release...after waiting months, it was nothing but a method to feed the ego of groups like lords, non stop crushing of inexperienced players. I'd rather remarry than bother with that nonsense.

got lured back for the Freemium® and stayed for the stormcrow.
Way easier than I thought, I only saw 3-4 man groups and solos.
6-12 man drops were rare (thank god) and we whipped a couple of them! 24 battles only the last one didn't qualify...I screwed with my drop deck, caz ime shmrt and stuff..

I'd play the hell out of CW IF it remains this way. PugFriendly.

but...if solo's and dual drops become filler for 3-4 man drops and we go up against 10-12 man teams, back to pugs!

    20/20 all solo.

Very easy on the clan side I think I've won 17 or 18. At least half of the time I was with a 4+ men, the "secret" on clan side when you solo is always attacking, that way you will end up with some groups 50% of the time. And with 2 solo drops, not even 2 from the same unit, I've won vs 12 men.

Results incoming when the last match is updated.

In the last games I was really bored so I just farmed some damage and then went leroy jenkins leading charges into the opposition, surprisingly that even kind of worked.

PGI always puts that slight too much grind that turns fun into boredom, 15 without 1 hanging item would have been perfect.

Also CW is pretty damn great for cbills generation, made almost 20m in 20 matches, and I don't have +30% earnings mechs on clan side.

At 10 for 10 right now and likely won't be able to finish the challenge since I didn't have any time last night to play. I play 100% PUG, and did not have any problems getting the 80 points in any round. As WhoopieMonster mentioned, you have 4 mechs, and even in a complete stomp, not being able to average ~250 dmg per mech seems strange as long as you make some semblance to stick together as a group.

As for an XL in assaults, that is fine for a standard pug match, but in CW where longevity is key, that is a great way to minimize your chances of winning. Hell, with that extra 10 tons for IS drops, I was seriously considering a STD engine BJ build to upgrade from the 35 tonners I have ready to go.

    Some of the weekend highlights:
    1. Someone brought a deck full of trial mechs, and commited suicide by alpha on the BNC-3M(C). I think he got the kill though.
    2. Having dread going up against a 12-man Clan Premade with all pugs on our side, watching in disbelief as they brought the fight to us while we were on counter-attack, and winning since they just sent wave after wave to their deaths. It may have been a bad tactic but was probably the funnest match of the weekend for both sides.

You have invasion mechs if you choose to use them - I don't bother as I pick mechs for specific engagements. I luckily have a WVR-6R (R) I can add into the mix. ;)

See, if that was Clan Jade Falcon, then I would be impressed. But in 100% PUG drop we typically won against Clan Wolf, even on Counter Attack. In one group drop with Hoochie and Pooty, all three of us only played one mech the entire match on Counter Attack. It was kinda sad... (Damn Pooty stole half my kills while I was saving his bacon too)(scroll down --->) https://www.mechspecs.com/threads/cw-challenge-most-damage-in-a-single-mech.8029/page-2

Less than 1000 damage per game should be that common. But numbers dont really always match how much you did to help the team, like ECM mechs that might have to skimp on some DPS. IS that dont have fast, high armored dps machines with ECM.
Then there is those extremes zerg or mass stomps where you get spawnraped etc that you cant really expect good numbers.

    I'm now at 10/10.

I dropped 5 times last night. Generally the matches were very even, although there was one game when I dropped with an 11 man on hold territory, we pushed out of the base from the off and pinned them in their drop zones. My score was terrible as mechs got focused pretty quickly and I managed to get isolated once, when the rest of the team suddenly fecked off to go somewhere else. I had a great time though, most fun I have had in MWO for a while.

    In other news...

So basically you got half my kills for the same damage while I was drop calling for our entire side on top? ;)

I was a pug and you we're in experienced groups....

Not sure why you think you did better as I actually gave a load of solo players a taste of how pugs can beat anyone if they all work together.

    Priceless.....

PS: Also received eight friend invites that I may regret accepting. :)

PPS: I ejected to get in my second mech and lead our counter attack.

^ Every time I knock down 2500 in CW, or a grand in pugs...I get friend requests...

where are they when I'm the first to die and get 79 damage and no kills, where? WHERE!??

And DONE! The last two games were fantastic too...had PUG groups that all had VOIP on, and since I was using heavier mechs, I took over the DC position for once and called out crit mechs and move requests...and they all fucking listened! Both rounds I went Grasshopper (5J with 3 ERLL 2 MLas, XL365), then STK-4N (6 LLas STD300)...first match they both died, so I brought in my Grid Iron to clean up, second match the Misery never even got close to death.

Also, in match one, my GHR got 6 kills and 1500 damage before it went down :D

Second match, the GHR got another 6 kills and 1700 damage...VERY nice.

Those two matches (and a couple defense matches vs CJF) really got the bad taste of PUGs out of my mouth. Shows you just what a team can do when all 12 people have VOIP and listen closely to it.

Overall stats: 20 games (no clue how many wins vs losses). Highest match score, 372, lowest was 183 in a stomp vs a rough crowd. TDR-9SE(C) in the garage ;)

    @Durandal

I love all the respect PUGs are giving for your taking DC position! Not often you get strangers to coordinate successfully, let alone, with that much respect in the end. Well done. It's just too bad those 12 kills don't give you a Death Star. ;)
