It was very strange, this is the first CW ever that I only lost 25% on my first mech. The opponents were extremely disorganized, even counting that they were pugs and we were not.

    Ingame tale:
Aylek says over TS, "Don't let Hitman get all the kills."
    Hitman kills another.
Aylek repeats, "Don't let Hitman get all the kills!"

Done with the Challenge. 20 matches played, 20 matches qualified. I got most of them in medium-sized unit groups and had not had a match below 160 match score. One of the easiest challenges I've ever done.

Our Unit was under contract for Kurita for the whole challenge, so we only dropped as IS. Drop Decks:

    - vs Clans: STK-4N, STK-M, HBK-GI, SDR-5D
    - vs Inner Sphere: STK-4N, CPLT-J, SHD-2K, RVN-3L

I'm only 6 points in...not sure if I'll have time this weekend to get to 20 since I have a commitment tomorrow >< We'll see how it goes.

17 drops, 17 points. IF you have 10 minutes to sit around wait...then 30 to diddle around in a mix of overly talented tactically trained groups on comms and the rest untalented shoot you in the back frantic to get a kill pugs, with a touch of like me, average sentient beings having fun..its not bad.
If you can get a taunt in edgewise, profit!

I hope my friends will be there tonight, because I simply can't imagine playing solo the 3 games I need to unlock the premium time. It is the same as standard solo queue, except it's worst. I'm not proud of this, but my second mech wasn't even dead yet I ragequited out of a game where our team was unable to simply push trough a gate. Cowards everywhere. :banghead:

  6. Any one else find this challenge easier than expected?

The increased surge of population kept my wait times under 5 minutes (usually less) and the preforms spent time farming damage instead of just zerg rushing.

    20 longer games > 120+ shorter games ?

    ^ that

No, with the increased population, came idiots, mouth breathers, brain deads, double digit IQ's galore.......but...as often as not, a lot were on the other side.

sitting...waiting....for my mech...an hour passed, realized I had to find where to indicate what mech I wanted....derp...
got my crow, and left it, named it, Bone-Stock. typical module set, othewise, bone stock
odd, get a new mech and a rush to mod it, ran this mech bone stock and its GREAT, heat is very manageable. Er's and Ml's, two mouse buttons
    sheesh...who'da thunk it?
AND, it arrived with that new mech smell, ALREADY mastered out? getouttatown :pompus:

    Dire/Crow/Crow/Kit is the drop now...

I have no hope of getting the mech, probably won't even get the blumin' premium time. Smelly family always getting in the way of my precious computer time.

    Grumble, grumble, grumble, grumble...

Yes that battle where kinda weird it almost felt like they didn't even try to kill us, its thees kinds of battles that makes me wonder if it might be a good idea to bring ELO into CW. Only reason i died was because i forgot about the Override toggle :)

Yes that where a good streak of mechs just falling into my lap half of them with the ThunderWUB they even gave me a HS and rest with my precious Blackjack.

Upped some of the evenings games to the tube: Some still uploading and prepped

Nope. I'm done and I got the TDR, simply because I already had a Stormcrow but did not have a Thunderbolt. I know that the Crow is better and that you can sell it for more cash, but why would I want to? Free mech!

20/20 (22/22 technically). Pugged the entire event and even won most of the games. The highlight was herding pugs by text to group and push for the win on a Hellbore counterattack. I was getting tired of the trading game unorganized groups tend to play at the gates, and we had like 2 STK, 2 BNC, and a DDC on the field.

I ended up choosing the SCR to sell. Was tempted to keep it as a 4th, but extra C-bills and mechbay wins in the end.

Done... and on a storming last match when everything went right. I even killed FOUR mechs with just 2 ML's before ejecting. We just had a 2 man on our side but despite the kill totals everyone played like a pro. Clear firing lines. Nice defensive movements. A light that totally put them off balance by going over the top, running behind them and gutting one of them before escaping back over to us... like a boss....

Caused chaos and they hadn't even opened the first gate!!!!!!

    Robard Sagioio I salute you!

PS: I think it was him. ;)

PPS: Nineteen kills...... just saying.... ;) (screenshots under max CW kills)

My main problem with this event is that it means 12-man Clan groups are just farming PuGs. This wouldn't strictly be a problem in and of itself, anymore-so than it is regularly, but in doing so the number of players who qualify for the even is usually 12 and no more...go ahead and guess which twelve. Most if not all of the losers, especially if IS, will have burned 45 minutes to an hour and a half for no credit on what is supposed to be and otherwise is in practice the low, 'don't scrub out' bar to hit. It's one thing to get a scrub team that scrubs out, it's quite another to have a PuG that actually coordinates and works together and still gets rolled.

I like the idea behind the event, and I want to like it more because they were even thoughtful enough to make it a 5-day instead of a 3-day to accommodate for CW, but I can't stop thinking they should have waited until things were in a better stat...oh, right, it's a data gathering event, they just didn't tell us that. *sigh* On to scrubland to try and finish up that 20. At least I have the time this time around.

On the upside, when the matches AREN'T so horribly lopsided it's a decent experience and the payout is nice even on a loss, so there's that!

Its very one sided with the 12 mans whichever side you're on if they know what you're doing. We mostly ran with a Marik team on Saturday with 10-12 of us, an experienced drop caller and moderate CW experience. We won every match and wait times were non existent. Sunday it was a lot harder as I was solo or small group but 80 pts isn't hard to get. Not entirely sold on CW but a lot of that is the solo/small group queue and the non intuitive nature of the CW UI.

Fairly convinced that it will go tits up when Wave 3 arrives as already the Clan ECM capability is massively tilted in their favour allowing some fairly horrendous LRM/Streak clan comboes on the new map.

Edit: The 250 ton change did help IS though as I see a lot more assaults used - mainly Stalkers or DC's on well organised teams.

Had another two games on Sunday, so I might manage to get my 3 days premium time! lol :)

Two things I have noticed, is it common place for IS assaults to run XLs in CW? I seemed to have a lot of sucess dropping assaults with side torso loss. Also how can people score sub 1000 damage with 4 mechs.

@XL: I think many are using builds with as much speed as they can squeeze into the chassis. Slow assaults aren`t a problem when you drop with a group that waits for the fatties, but if you drop CW solo, you get easily left behind and smashed - STD or XL.

@Sub1000: Nothing is impossible at MWO ;)

A lot of people will run XL assaults in specific builds...for instance, you will see a lot more people run super LRM boats with XL engines and a shit ton of ammo, no BAP, and no backup weapons, since they can sit back and just launch nonstop. Generally speaking, they are just trying to get as much long-range weaponry in as they possibly can, and want the extra tonnage.

Actually, there is a lot more XL engine action that I notice in CW for just that reason, you just need the tonnage for things like ammunition if you're not running a laser vomit build.
