Now that we are doing the combat testing of various builds what would you guys like to see in the videos? More detail on the reasoning behind the mech and it's playstyle? Entire gameplay videos from drop to death (with all that walking?!?!?) Short clips from various drops showcasing kills? User submitted (and voted upon) builds showcased? What sort of things would YOU find worthwhile in the videos?
I think the user submitted (and voted on) idea is excellent. Zer0 and I are going to start working on using Fraps next week. I like having the aimless walking removed from the video for sure. You are doing an excellent job. Myth.
Hehe we are working on a great many things behind the sceens *puts on his half mask and runs away cackling*
I was at a bit of a loss on what would be a good format as well but I believe the one you have been using, Michael, probably would be the best 'standard' to go with in my opinion. It has a good balance of explanation and entertaining video demonstration set to music at the end. That covers both things I was wanting to achieve and did not want to leave one or the other out. So no hard feelings if we copy your style a bit. I believe it would be nice to have a bit of a site standard format for these videos if we are going to have them on a channel.
These. And might I suggest this be turned into a poll with OP options as choices for voting, and if we can allow multivote great, if not, choose what you like most. I personally would love to maybe hear a little about the playstyle as the gameplay is happening, so I understand why the choices were made and can better understand what the loadout excels at and doesn't excel at. I'd also enjoy seeing some user submitted content (like 4-5 star with positive forum feedback)
Your wish is my command. Threads merged. You are now able to vote (with multiple choice) as well as offer suggestions this way. Please note: When I say user showcased builds it means that, should you wish it, you can dropbox me raw video of your actual combat drops and I can throw them together in the official site format since Tuku and I have all the PSD files, cut scenes etc. As for having more talking during the videos that is something that will have to wait until I have a proper microphone/headset. Right now I am holding a VX-3000 Lifecam (webcam) close enough to my face to make the audio work with as little static as possible. You want it done faster? Donate money and I'll purchase the headset Sean Lang recommended and do running commentary and tactical analysis/pilot guides.
Build explanation and logic. Combat drop (we can skip the walk). I was thinking more music video style and if something needs explanation then thats what bubbles and such are for. I figured any special role related tactics would be mentioned in the build explanation. Kill showcasing doesn't really interest me and entire start to finish videos can get boring and dull. User submitted and voted upon I like. Think this could really come into it's own with new chassis releases and just so happens we have a new chassis being released this Tuesday we could try it out on. I believe we can have a bit of everything in a video and cover all of our bases for the most part.
Personally I like the way it is now; having the music in the background makes it a little more interesting since you seem to pair the music with the video (ie: no Sarah Mclachlan with a Jenner running around). I would love to see maybe a Mechlab guide and a basic strategy guide for noob pilots. You could even break these up into weight classes since there are different tactics for different mechs.
I would love to see a video where the conversation taking place between the pilots is discernable. Communication is a major factor in determining the success of a team. I also think it would be quite entertaining to hear the various expletives being thrown around when things go awry. Myth.
