That is interesting, but what it comes down to (BT rules, balance, MWO mech rules, all that) Is time. They have the money, and now it is a matter of time before they get it where they want it. The problem is, We(closed-beta tester's) are now out of the loop when it comes to testing. That, and we don't know what is the most work and time being devoted into this game. I've asked for a video showcasing the construction of a mech, from art concept to 3d modeling to final product. If they did more video's like this, I might believe them it takes $500,000 to create 1 mech chassis line.
Yep, I forgot about the cockpit weight, because it wasn't always in the engine. It was once a part of the internal structure weight. But when they introduced Endo Steel internal structure, they had to move the cockpit weight somewhere so that it wouldn't screw up the ES weight calculations.
I thought you guys notice the cockpit weight in engine thing already? I don't think the developer/programmer themselves do a bad job, while they be me a bit overboard when it comes to changes, they are at least trying to make things better. Some differences are necessary, to mke the game more fun. It is a simulator afterall, and things are different from tabletop. Yes, sometimes changes are done not to our preference, but I do understand they are testing things out. I just hope that any changes they do from now on should be a bit more gradual. The way they do on UAC5 is reasonable enough, while the way they deal with Gauss is not, they could have at least tuned the dps a bit less first. Yes I do notice that weapons that has the biggest difference from the classic TT/MW series are usually the ones that have the biggest problems. MG are still crappy, and frankly they should drop the crit seeker concept alltogether. NARC is still a piece of crap (other than maybe for XP). They should add a bit more weapons for variety. But yes before that they should fix the fundimental problem of lag shielding and what not... but I guess that is the job for another group of programmers. I love how the game is in general, and form me any buff/nerf is just a cycle of things, I am okay with it as long as the game is somewhat fair. I am more concerned with things like glitches and disconnects and map-stucks that would ruin a round. Things like balancing come and go, and eventually people learn to adapt. The decision making management part (PGI/IGP whoever it is) are just a bunch of copulating female dogs that should get out and inhale a giant animal phalic object. Obviously they are making decisions that they know would cause an outrage, and decided to make no communications with the player community at large. They should know that while they can attract a bit more players with n00bish gimmics like 3pv, ultimately their income depends on dedicated players that would pay $$$ for MC. Thsy should know that selling hero mechs before the regular models are out may be a good ploy but ultimately it may not work cause players may want to see how the mech would perform first. They should know that people like founders are people who like to get involved and are willing to pay for things in the game (I am not a founder just so you know) and that when you greatly displease a group of players that were quite involved in the community of this game series (not just MWO but battletech/mchwarrior in general) they are going to spread negative karma around. And guess who is going to rate and write more reviews for this game when it launches? Your newbie player that is most likely not going to pay a dime, or the old guys who had been playing and feels shorted? The wonderful reviews and ratings they get for the so-called official launch would be a good wake up call for them. PS: IF you are one of those management female dogs that are reading this (which I don't think would be happening) Go burn yourself with the eternal ghost heat the size of a milllion ERPPC. Stop ruining the game.
That could be the biggest issue... the things everyone is bitching about are really only the tip of the iceberg(meaning the visible 10%) but what really drives it is how it's implemented and the broken promises that lead to a sense of betrayal... if it was just some bad mechanics every once in a while... We'd all just suck it up & deal with it cause who doesn't love Mechwarrior..? But it's the sense of how things are shaping up for the future that leads to a feeling of ominous foreboding....
