Am glad that they are doubling the damage of MG's. That means that now they will only be half as useless. Could triple MG damage and it still wouldn't feel balanced out as there is a ballistic dead spot between the MGs and AC2 which exists only because of what was done with MG damage.
Very interesting changes. Looks like some of the other light chassis are going to get a little more popular once this goes live. Multiple machine guns might be sorta viable: 1.6 DPS for two isn't bad considering the low weight. On another note, I think the X-5 may turn into the best "scout killer" available. Streaks, lasers, and BAP in a fast medium.
No, they will do .08 damage meaning one will do .16 DPS there abouts and 4 will do .64 DPS. You may break 1 if you are critting with 4.
Ha! All you guys and your "I will be prepping".... The Grimm 3L already has BAP installed for when it did become useful; it has now become useful. Yay!!! h34r: It's the rest of my damn scout hunters that will have to shoehorn in BAP. My JR7-D(F) may stay as is without BAP and just work in tandem with a Raven or light that has BAP but my JR7-F may drop a MLas and a little armor (or a HS) and add BAP to become an ECM Huntah!
Agreed. An MG effectively will do 0.8 DPS. 10 rounds/second at 0.8 damage per round. So, CDA-3Cs and SPD-5Ks get to do 3.2 DPS with the quads.
I'm wondering if the speed on LRMs will make it so AMS is less useful against them. If they fly 20% faster, it stands to reason that AMS will shoot down 17% less of them (6/5 vs. 5/6 is my reasoning here). ETA: So I've looked over my builds, and approximately half will have BAP fitted in after I get through. Most will be just a sacrifice (usually something like 1 JJ and a DHS on my Spider or maybe shuffle around engines and adjust from there), while others will be a complete rebuild (mainly because SSRMs are going to be useful again). With SSRMs or LRMs, my philosophy is I need either BAP or ECM. Otherwise, it will primarily serve as a utility. There are two builds I don't have posted here (oh no!) that I will need to look over when I get home. My Commandos will not have BAP, unless I go for SSRMs on a non-2D, because they simply don't have the tonnage available.
its not 0.8 damage its 0.08 per shell which would be 0.8 DPS for a single machine gun firing 10 rounds per second 1.6 DPS for 2 MG and 3.1 for 4 Those 4 and 6 MG jagers are gonna be a little more fearsome... (but only a little)
Correct me if I am wrong but "per shell" Means "per bullet" witch means DPS would be 0.8 times number of bullets in a given second.
Probably a typo, it's 10 per shell at 0.08 per round (currently 0.04, going to be doubled). 3.1 for 4 is probably a typo, too, as it should be 3.2. Or else someone is just terrible at math The issue with ECM/BAP lights teamed with LRMs countering snipers is that the sniper will probably just poptart, meaning the LRMs are virtually useless.
LRMs are not only for doing damage...they are a covering fire weapon as well. If every time a poptart poptarts he has missiles coming at him and the LRM boat is smart enough to keep on the move and angle for better position with the help of his scout I would say that keeping the poptarts from popping is much more important than whatever damage the LRMs might do in that particular case.
Indeed, but they have to have a reason to FEAR the missiles first. If you jumped and someone threw marshmallows at you, would you be scared to jump again?
yes I would I would have to consider what special kind of maniac can throw marshmallows at me in the middle of a fire fight, then consider what he would do with something that did damage... I would be outta there extra quick while they are still throwing marshmallows...
Any idea if the MGs will do double damage while crit, or is the crit damage staying the same? i.e. currently it is 0.04 per shell, 0.50 per crit; is it going to be 0.08/1.00 or 0.08/0.50?
Am I the only one concerned, rather than exited, by ECM+BAP+SSRM stacking? Don't get me wrong, I like the BAP changes (the problem is more about the streaks) but I already see some of the lamest builds I could think coming.
Do you mean someone running all 3 at the same time? Sounds fine by me. Means they gotta drop 1.5tons for that BAP they weren't running before. Plus, let them try and make "cheese" builds. They can be countered with logic and skill. Tactics and good team work wins games an can topple any build.
