Instead of 3pv, the devs should focus on game types, maps and other improvements.. That can be a generic start to almost any thread these days. I would love for a base to actually look like, well... a base! like a drop ship or a hangar. River city has a dropship and that's the closest thing to a base on any map. And if we want to control points, it would be nice if they are... er a bit more strategic, like an airport (could be river city again) or an oil refinery.. (which is, again, similar to the lower starting point in River City) I will use Living Legends as an example, (did anyone play it?) but it has actual outposts in the deserts that you have to capture and hold. It has a junglemap where the jungle is more real than forest colony here is. It even has in field repair areas like they had in MechCommander... And the that's a MOD... I am still failing to understand why a game where devs are being paid is still so far behind many of these simple aesthetic improvements... [/rant]
I don't know. I personally prefer the core gameplay being good than the background being credible. Maybe that's because I made my classes with abstract games where you finally don't care what you're shooting at and how, as long as you're doing it (Quake). (but I agree about the need for game modes, and overall improvements rather than 3pv or whatever)
