I haven't tried the build but I don't understand why you would mix UAC5 and AC5 on the same build. It makes it much harder to optimise your ammo.
Sure, it must sound pretty odd to someone who isn't familiar with this classic VTR-DS build but it works pretty well if you can get used to the UAC/AC mix. I personally like the little extra burst provided by the UAC/5. Ammo optimization is pretty simple as well, just make sure you have at least 30% more UAC than AC ammo. This build has proven itself over and over again in the past, and it still does:
It's easy. I've run AC5+UAC a bunch of times & currently have it on my Shadowhawk 5M and Orion V. Good, cool firepower and a great option for XL torsos or arms with elbows My rule of thumb for ammo is the same as what Crucii has here - 2tons for AC5, 3 for the UAC - and I always double-tap the UAC (towards the end of the cooldown, as it seems to jam less, and if you time it right you get your ultra-shot and your next 'normal' shots with a single button press). Ammo for each gun runs out at about the same time. If the mech has cooldown quirks specifically for AC5 or UAC5, then the timing might feel a bit weird. If it only has general (or no) ballistic cooldown quirks, it's a piece of cake. When mixing different ACs which you intend to fire all together, just go into the testing grounds and fire them until they run out. Should only take one or two adjustments and you'll have your ammo reserves all matched up.
Few optimizations/ideas I'd make: *Asym righty for ease of gunnery and corner dominance *Crit padding heat sinks in the RA *Stripped LA to rearmor cockpit/legs *Bottom ton of your longest lasting/best ammo goes in the cockpit (if you drop much UAC ammo, that might need to be the AC5 ammo) *Avoided torso ammo which gets popped early on if you take a pinpoint back shot You might want to look into LPLas instead of PPC. I love UACs/LPLas on my 733C these days. Also, maybe drop a little more ammo for engine upgrades like below. Mobility is what makes an XL work, and you're better off out of ammo and relying on energy than dead.
Hey guys, thanks for the input. @tfun90: I already thought about using LPLs but I really want to make use of those PPC quirks. I'm a bit in a cleavage about the asymmetrical build because of fact that the arms are pretty easy to hit and don’t have a lot of hitpoints. A shield arm is - of cause - a nice thing to have. @Aylek: Soooo slow … ~.~
