MAD-3R, 3050 edition Stock weapons, Endo & DHS, an extra ton of ammo and more armour. That's it! No meta-mech, but meant for people who want to keep something similar to the original. My first Marauder game was in this build - I found it fun to drive & shoot (I'm a ballistics & PPC fan), did a couple of kills and about 400 damage. Lost a side too, so I'm glad I kept the stock engine. The upgrades will cost you 2.3mil.
Not really worth it. The single AC5 is weak, think about taking out some DHS and upgrade to AC10 then. You can even go all out for Gauss, though it is nerfed.
Not worth it? 2.3mil is cheap! You hurt my feelings dude! (kidding) I dunno, I'm finding it pretty solid. Bearing in mind it's meant to stick as close to the original as possible but make it more viable. I'm not chasing 1k damage here, that's for different builds. This is for nostalgia Subsequent games: 2nd: 3K, 6A, 482 damage, win 3rd: 1K, 10A, 530 damage, win (died) 4th: 1K, 7A, 630 damage, win ...working through basics & with no modules equipped. I know it's early days but I'm liking it so far! It deals decent damage and feels pretty tough & dependable. One problem I've noticed is the legs get hit a lot compared to other heavies - my one death was from losing both legs - so I think the armour needs beefing up a bit there. Going XL obviously opens up more options. Seems XL-friendly so far, what do you think? I personally wouldn't go with gauss, I think it departs too far from the feel of the original and - especially now with the slower cooldown - will significantly change how you use the mech. AC10's a better suggestion. I have an Orion K build with AC10, 2PPC and 2MPL, XL340. I think that would translate perfectly to the MAD-3R and still play like tweaked stock. Something like: (maybe scrounge tonnage from somewhere to add more cooling, I didn't spend much time optimising that and I don't have my 'O1NK' build to hand) For further options, I'm going try a souped up stock build using some combination of AC5/UAC5/AC2. I've been tinkering but haven't struck on anything I like yet.
